View Full Version : managing multiple merchant accounts

I was wondering if other people are having the problem of reconciling all of the different reports they get from their merchants and combining them into one legible report that they can work with?
Today we are doing this manually with excel charts and lookups and I believe that we could save a lot of time if there was an automated way of doing this. Any input will be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forums Jenstone!

Depending on your processor - some of them offer an accounting website in that you can combine the reports, statements, etc.

Utilizing a merchant account that has a robust reporting and reconciliation tool and interface is definitely a big plus.

However, in terms of managing the reporting from many different systems... the only thing I can suggest is to build a little import utility whereby you could take a CSV file (if available) from each provider and then combine them together.

thanks cdgcommerce ,
what I need is someone that will be able to log into the systems automatically and be able to match the information
Do you know of a company that offers this kind of service?

Hi Jenstone.

Your question is timely because I too have been looking around for a service similar to the one you describe, but so far have found nothing.

I am now considering creating something that is similar to what you describe and would be very interested to hear more of the specifics of what you need and are looking for. Please drop me an email (michaelhball [at] yahoo.com) to discuss in more detail if you wish.

I don't know of any service that does that. But be very careful about granting your access into to any third parties as I could see a lot of potential for mischief with any service that remote logs-in to multiple bank and merchant portal systems.

Do your current providers offer you any kind of CSV data file export? I'm thinking that a much safer and easier way to reconcile everything would be to hire an individual or company to build a utility that sucks in all of the different files and then creates a universally-formatted report for you.

There are lots of experienced programmers here on WHT and other forums or you could use a place like RentACoder.com.

I have a customer that searched high and low for a long, long time for an outside vendor that could deal with this issue, and they were never able to find anyone. They ended up building their own import utility, but even with that, they still end up doing a lot of data entry.

Well it sounds like you are trying to advertise at this point. You might be better off putting something in the advertising section of this forum. We might be hesitant to put anything down here because it would be against the TOS of this forum to tell you to 'contact me, I can help you' - that is advertising and only allowed in the advertising forums (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=33) on this board.

And they might not want to PM you since it was not on the advertising forums for fear you might report that person for spamming you. We do not want to do anything against the TOS.

But if you are looking for someone, make sure you let that individual know what language (ASP / .NET / PHP) as well as what database (MSSQL / mYSQL) that you wish to use.

I would also let them know how the charts come to you i.e. in an xls, csv format or if it is tab-delimited. Maybe even let the users know what reporting that is used - i.e. a lot of companies offer an accounting side to the merchant account business - so the more information you provide to them the better.

No programmer can give you a good estimate without at least reviewing those file formats, and then getting a format in which you desire. They need to map all those fields properly.

Thanks Corey,
I have also posted my thread in the advertising forum as you advised :) hopefully I will get more answers there
