I am looking to purchase a Great Custom built Template! The Template should be designed around the Cobalt Raq theme (Colors, images, etc..etc..). I reserve the right to not purchase anything if I don't see something that "Knocks my socks off".

Would also consider "Barter" situations. ie... Template for Hosting or even a blended quote. ie... less money and less hosting. Key to me is a win-win situation.

Why should people design a template for only $50 - $200 when you have the following demands:

I'd want html. sliced images, original .PSD files, any fonts used included in the final .ZIP file I'd be buying.

I don't think these requests are unreasonable. Any designer that feels they are unreasonable would pass upo my request. I would want the ability to make modifications myself at a later date if needed.

I have seen a lot of Really nice Templates posted/re-posted/re-posted here on WHT that "Thought" were really good. I have also seen templates posted for sale that (Didn't appeal to me).

I'm trying to be upfront and make it know that a design must "Appeal" to me and I won't simply purchase something because it has the Raq image in it.

Timeframe is Open, I'd contract today if I saw a mockup.GIF posted that made my heart go "Pitter-Patter". But the site is still 30-45 days from going live. So I guess a good answer to your questions is.... I'd need it within 3-4 weeks tops.

Fot you they aren't unreasonable, but I think a designer will think: Why should I design doemthing for only $50 - $200. When I'm even not sure if he takes it?

At least four reasons:

1. Creative exposure.
2. He might take it.
3. Someone else may want it.
4. Experience

Some people seem interested in trying, so his request seems pretty valid.

Just design something 'good', if he doesn't take it and if it is good, someone else probably will around here, good templates dont usually sit unbought for too long (though there have been a few exceptions).

this is the exact problem with design now a days.

people such as him come hee make a demand that is totaly unreasonable and expects people to o his bidding..to the person that takes him up on this..."you hae just lowered your self below what your standards are"

when we at insane designs recieve an order we expect that person to purchess what they order. they always get what they want.

I would not lower my self to this level...there are many other jobs out there that are much better and much more satisfying..

OK, I think I understand your concerns. I'll try to address them.

I am *NOT* saying that I reserve the right to back out of an agreement.

If I see a mockup.GIF that I like, I'll PM that designer and let them know what I like/dis-like about the mockup.GIF and if they agree to make those modifications/changes.... We'd have a deal.

They could then set about completing the design/template/splices etc.... I'd take a look at the then completed-mockup.GIF and if still acceptable.... Make payment and expect the .ZIP file.

I did assume that most designers would prepare a mockup, but if this is not the case... I stand corrected. (and learned something).

You know, some smaller firms or ones just starting out need sales like this. Sure I am not making what I think some of my designs are worth, but you know what? They have enabled my partner and I to get our new company off the ground without a single dolalr out of our own pockets yet.

We all have to start somewhere, I cannot imagine that when you were starting out, you were getting top dollar for all your designs. I think you have a very narrow viewpoint on the entire situation and you are just angery that some people on here are taking (sure you see it as stealing) potential customers away from you.

One contact I made through a similiar offer here has come back to us 4 more times. So was making his initial template for a below average price worth it to me? Hell yes.

I am sorry that I didn't make myself a little clearer in my initial request. I can understand how someone could think I was suggesting that I would back out of an agreement. This is not the case.

I have looked at your portfolio and you have some very nice work. I didn't see anything that jumped out at me for this particular project. I liked the brighter (Whiter) designs more then the Darker ones myself.

Is it normal for designers to expect orders based ONLY on a few designs in a portfolio?

I'm looking for a GREAT designer that has some creative suggestions toward what I'm wanting and not necessarily a Great designer that will provide me "Exactly what I tell them". <If I knew exactly what I wanted, I'd do it myself>

I hope that every posted mockup.GIF generates the designer some business or leads. Even if it's not directly from me.

I would certainly consider putting a link "Design by xxxxx" as part of the HTML. And hopefully this would generate a lot of leads and business for the designer from our sites customers.

my pov: der are not many other hosts that need or want a template based entirely on raqs, especially the raq colour schemes. wat if their designs don't get chosen? what will they do? the demand for 'raq' based templates are not as high as for those more 'popular' servers such as unix, windows, plus the template u require has to be BASED on those blue and green colours.

btw, i'm in :)

sir, haven't u tried looking at the rest of the templates on sale/bid here coz u might find some u like, and u can just ask the designer/s if they can change the colour scheme to your prefered colours.

I have looked at sites that were designed similiar to cobalt.com http://www.raqshaq.com - and I really like their sight... Great starting point.

I don't think that just copying another site is the answer. Somebody designed those sites (maybe for $$$) and would be very upset that their creative work is being used without compensation. Besides, I don't want to hear from any Attorney's.

btw raqshaq.com's design is noway compared to those artists we have here. their frontpage is 'kids-work' and their dhtml script is taken from dhtmlcentral.com (i think, but looks like).

I didn't mean my postas an attack towards you in anyway simply stating a growing problem with this design and hosting industry...supply and demand is killing us..everyone is going for the cheapest doller.

perhaps its just recently i got majorly burned by a customer. i had spent an entire month perfecting a site template for this person and all the time on the side he had another designer working on the same project without telling me. in the end he took the other designers work and not mine leaving me with nothing except a template i could have done in an hour minus allthe changes he wanted me to do. this is why posts such as yours bother me so much. Insane Designs absolutly refuses to partake in any "bidding" of auction wars with other designers..it is neither fair to me or him. instead of wasting my time on such a project i could be better spending it on a small but stable project.

its just sad to see designers work being taken advantage of in such a manner....I feel some sort of organization should be created to make sure all designers are treated fairly such as some sort of regulation committee...

I think this is as off topic as you could possibly get....good luck on getting what you need. and my portfolio is mearly a sample of my work.

It's not like I'm going to sell that template to someone right now. I just used it to fill up some space, I'm not profiting from it. I WILL change it before I give it to someone.

I want to Thank EVERYONE that has submitted a "Mockup" thus Far. I am watching the THREAD today and I'm seeing some very nice work being posted.

I wouldn't/didn't expect anyone to spend Hours & Hours designing a mockup that I might not even like. The fact that Raja has "Swiped" the graphics, plans, etc...etc... for a mockup is ok with me (I'm glad he/she didn't put a lot of time into this).

Of course, any design chosen would have to be UNIQUE and not a "Copy Job", but that takes time and serious effort. I Didn't expect somebody to invest a lot of tiime into a mockup.

I do appreciate those people that have and will submit a mockup here. I will only choose 1 designer and I'll probably do that right here in the FORUM early next week.

I hope that I haven't offended anyone (Wasn't my goal) with my request since we had some lively debate earlier in the thread. Everyone has an opinion and I appreciate that.

I have gotten several PM about the Color requirement.

Let me re-state my goals: Theme of the site is Cobalt Raq Servers.

Blue Should have to be one of the colors, BUT Green is NOT necessarily a requirement. (even though blue/green are the Cobalt site colors)

It would be difficult to have a Raq Server site with (Black/Yellow) (Purple/Yellow) (White/brown) as the Colors of the designs, This doesn't necessarily mean that a color "other" then Green must be used.

If the color requirement of "Blue/Green" is limiting anyones creativity, I may be shorting myself. Stupid me!

Show me the best you can do for a Cobalt Raq Server Site!

This was not an easy decision folks, there were just to many good designs submitted. After much debate, discussions with my business partner and a flip of the coin...... We have Selected R.K. Raja as the Designer for this project.

The Final product of his creativity will be greatly different then the submission above.
