View Full Version : VDI and Alabanza?
Don't mean anything here, after searching the pevious posts, I still couldn't find what's the difference between VDI and Alabanza webhost except that VDI host based has nicer control panel (?!?!). Which one is better? or the difference? Again, I don't mean anything, just a question.
Well, VDI hosts are able to offer more features to their clients.
CRego3D 01-02-2001, 08:48 AM Nam .. the main difference is flexibility
with a Box from Alabanza you are stuck with what they give you, meaning .. lets say you whanto to just go and upgrade from PHP3 to PHP4 .. you can't .. they won't allow you, you need to ask them to upgrade you to the latest package (stillnot the latest php, mysql, etc) and it will cost you a fortune, now other programs, furget it.
With VDI, fell free to blow the machine up, hey it's your machine, just make sure you know what you are doing ;-) ..
And yes, the VDI Cpanel is alot better and more flexible, beehing otally skinnable, you can build your own control panel to suit your needs :D
kunal 01-02-2001, 11:11 AM I think CRego3d, covered all of it. With alabanza, your more like virtual hosting on there servers. If you get what I mean? With VDI, you are truely dedicated.
webfors 01-02-2001, 11:11 AM Don't forget about price. Alabanza essentially has one price plan. With VDI the prices vary greatly depending on the hardware, bandwidth, and even the company you actually sign up with (there are many companies that offer dedicated/colocation services at VDI's NOC). And cpanel/whm is constantly getting better with more feautures added weekly.
CRego3D 01-02-2001, 11:59 AM tabernack is also right, price is a major facotr, wich is all part of the "flexibility" package ..
Also, one more pointer, bandwith, the difference in bandwith prices once you go over the allocated 50 gig's on Alabanza is over 2x as more (4x if you don't but it in blocks) than VDI
webfors 01-02-2001, 12:17 PM Also, VDI offers colocation, which as far as I know Alabanza does not. With VDI YOU decide what hardware you want (whether leased or colocated), NOT dictated to you by the NOC. If you want to setup a Dual Xeon box with 2GB of ram, go right ahead. Again, this falls under Carlos's "flexibility" point.
energy 01-02-2001, 05:04 PM would someone be kind enough to tell me the url to VDI please?
Not to mention some particularly companies, is that why VDI host based more expensive than VDI host based? and more reliable?
webfors 01-02-2001, 05:15 PM energy: http://www.vdi.net
nam: what?
CRego3D 01-02-2001, 07:38 PM Nam .. you got me lost there :)
I think Nam got his thoughts crossed.....
CRego3D 01-02-2001, 10:33 PM I read that sentence over and over again .. hehe, :D
Sorry if I got you gyou guys confused. What I meant was it that the reason why VDI based hosting price is slightly more expensive than Alabanze based hosting price? Still confused?
etLux 01-04-2001, 07:23 AM Oddly enough, I understood it the first time.
I wonder what that implies...
kunal 01-04-2001, 08:53 AM grr.. Nam, I am yet confused! :( :(
