Urchin used to a pretty amazing web analytics tool. And from what I understand was very popular as well. Over the past month, however, I've emailed them many times, and from different email addresses too, in order to purchase licenses for our hsphere cluster and some colo customers. I've now tried emailing every email@urchin.com I can find. Aside from their thank-you-for-emailing-us confirmation email, I've never received a reply. And there's no other way I can find to contact them.

Looks like Google acquired them in May of this year:

Did Google just buy them to shut them down? I guess use their engineers for other things. I've now just sent multiple emails asking if they simply still are active with web analytics out of curiosity.

Anyway, what's the best web statistics software like urchin to use for campaign tracking and ecommerce/web statistics?

Google might have bought Urchin out to offer it for free to everyone.
So don't be fast to pull the credit card out of your wallet ! :D

Google do strange things lately, but if they bought Urchin and closed it, this is not at least strange, for me. First thing I do after getting a new server is to disable Urchin. :-)

Google did not kill Urchin, nor are they going to offer it for free (well not any time soon at least). Google is still distributing and supporting the software product through Service and Support partners. Try www.urchinexperts.com

There's also rumors that they've integrated some of urchin's technology within their backend, on the adwords/adsense side. This may just be speculation but would kind of make sense.
