Which bank do you recommend choosing for a business account within the UK.
I have several branches available in my area. Royal Bank of Scotland, HBOS (Halifax bank of Scotland), Lloyds TSB and Clydesdale Bank.
What sort of things am I looking at here, in terms of extra bonuses that some banks may not have etc. Obviously online banking is a MUST, and some way of payment online, such as VISA card etc.
Thanks in advance.

If you have a low turnover, give Abbey a try, they are free and have on-line banking. The only drawback I've seen so far is that you can't setup a direct debit to collect payment from your customer. You get a VISA Debit card and they supply post paid envelopes for paying in of cheques.

Also, What about NationWide. Forgot about that branch.
To be honest, I would like a local branch. I'm very near the town high street and like smiley branch staff.

I would recommend Royal Bank of Scotland, (WorldPay) is also a part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group.

We use Lloyds and have been very happy.
Other than the weekly down to pay in cheques I never visit a branch, everything is done online or by phone.
When picking your bank, look at the transaction rates after the free periods end, find out how long they take to clear a deposit into your account, and what their online and phone banking services are like.

We use Bank of Scotland and Abbey.
Abbey are the best of the two.
Bank of Scot wanted a £250,000 in cash to give us a merchant account.
Royal Bank only wanted £180,000.
I stonewalled them and got it down to £50,000.
