hi.... my server was down for about 25 minutes. it was working fine but suddenly it went offline. this is what I was thinking at the beginning.
I've sent a first emergency ticket to the company hosting me.
the server cambe back online exactly when sending the ticket. the logs do not show any crash or server reboot... i can not recognize any error.
this is why i think my hosting company was offline due to connectivity problems.
anyway... this things are bad but can happen.
what makes me really ancious is the fact that even if I've sent my first emergency trouble ticket... nobody replied...
my question:
Am I asking to much for a company beeing able to offer dedicated servers for $99 to have really somebody there 24 hours per day? What is the MAXIMUM time you allow to your hosting company to process your FIRST EMERGENCY ticket?
update: exactly 45 minutes are over... still no reply to my emergency ticket

Well if you use Rackshack, then they don't use the best hardware for the server. Mostly hardware from WallMart.
Don't they have an emergency phone #?

What did you write in this ticket?
Maybe there is no reason to reply.

if someone sends me a ticket about a server being offline, I don't sit there and and type out a nice "ok we'll get right on it" reply, I fix the problem asap and try to trace down the reason that it happened then I will respond with a yay or nay.

Everyone has complained about the, "my server was down for about 25 minutes" threads. Listen, if your server goes down everyday over and over due to network problems, *first* find a new provider *then* post your experiences. This is regardless of who you have a server with, and goes for any member on any provider.
When I was with Tera-byte, my server went down now and then, but overall it was up like a junkie after a coke binge.
When your server isn't up (again this goes for anyone, I'm not talking to one specific person), please contact your provider and do not immediately post a thread about it.

I suspect it is bad swap memory. Look for any error in your kernel. Bad swap memory can make your server go up and down frequently. One of our servers bought from rackshack had this kind of bad swap memory problem and the server crash 20 times in one week. Good luck to you.

Don't they have an emergency phone #? Have you guys been dropping crumbs here again?? This is the second troll today that I've seen...
If you can't post an intellegent response, why post?

This is not any company's support forum. And, to post here after 25 minutes is not reasonable. Evaluate your provider's performance over a period of time. If it isn't acceptable, leave them, post here if you like. However, in most cases, a provider knows if a server is down and reacts to remedy it. Fixing the problem in those cases is more critical than responding to a ticket. And, if you expect that your server will never be down 25 minutes...or even 45 minutes or an hour, then you are going to be disappointed by any provider here.

We are the same way. Our emergency tickets get paged to us as well. We are going to fix the server and find out what happened before we respond to you.
And of course if another server happens to go down we will fix that before we respond to either of you.
