View Full Version : Professional Web Development Needed
Hello,
After a few false starts, we are looking again for a web developer to do our site. (We are a dedicated and colo hosting provider).
I can offer free hosting in return, or a combination of free hosting and some sort of cash payment.
I'd prefer to do this in exchange for hosting.
I *will not* pay any monies upfront, been burned a few times already. I will provide hosting upfront, and cash payment when I am sure the site is going to be done and/or is completed.
I am looking for a basic, clean, professional site. We don't do virtual, so I don't need the $4.99 splash boxes all over the front page.
I can be reached on ICQ at 150309469 or AOL via IPHead.
We are flexible in what we can offer in return, in terms of space and bandwidth. You would also have access to Plesk for your use.
Thanks,
Tom
Barak 04-04-2002, 06:22 PM What kind of hosting will it be?
It would be for my hosting company.
Sorry I forgot that info.
Tom
Barak 04-04-2002, 06:26 PM Hehe, /me watches lines cross multiple times :D
What I meant by my question, was what type of hosting would we receive if we did the site?
Sorry for the confusion :)
TheException 04-04-2002, 06:31 PM I would also like to know more about this... I am a good web developer, but I lack in the graphics area and do not want to undertake something if you need a lot of graphics done...
Also, when you say website development, how far do you want to take that? I would be willing to offer marketing services to help you get your company going.
Ok, not sure what else I could post here to make it easier, I apologize for being vague above.
I'm looking for a clean site. I have a logo already done, but it may need to be cleaned up to fit the theme.
I am not looking for tons of graphics, but a few yes, and if I have to pay for the right to use them, I will, but they gotta fit into the desgin.
I am NOT looking for a template only, rather all the content filled-in, some I will provide, some you may have to provide/copy and I will approve it, or modify it.
I'd like to strike a deal that you maintain it based on our changes, etc, in return for on-going hosting.
We are on a fast backbone, with an OC48 in the VA/MD/DC area and OC3/12 nationwide.
Traceroute to 205.177.13.1 and test the speed at http://205.177.13.2/uumap.tar.Z
I hope this clears this up a bit!
Acroplex 04-05-2002, 05:20 PM Just for the record, your logo appears squashed because the dimensions in HTML are wrong.
Azaloth 04-05-2002, 05:50 PM I could definately do something like this for you but I am really only interested in a cash payment. I currently have all the hosting I could ever possibly need and then some.
So if you're willing to pay say $200 for a custom template with all your links/ad copy plugged in (this doesn't include any back-end programming such as CPs, PHP, Database work, CGI scripts, etc). Simply a visually gorgeous and clean layout, with your ad copy and links/logo/images plugged in etc.
Examples of my work can be found at:
http://www.azaloth.com/portfolio.html
and here are some examples of templates which are currently availible and have never been sold (which could easily be altered to fit your company w/your copy and graphics plugged in) for $100.

An example of my most recent work on an entire site (including all Flash, CGI installation, etc) can be found at:

Thanks for your post and please let me know if you have any questions, concerns about pricing, or comments. Thank you.
iVersit 04-05-2002, 08:43 PM Hosting as in 'shared hosting' or hosting as in 'colocation' or possibly even a dedicated server for a few months?
BrianF 04-05-2002, 09:43 PM Woah, fast backbone for me. I downloaded that tar at 90k/sec and I'm on a 768/384 line.

workingklown 04-05-2002, 10:04 PM Are you still looking for a designer or have you found one?
SYNATIX 04-06-2002, 12:40 AM Hello, TomK i believe SYNATIX, .INC can help you out if you could just pm me 1-5 example sites you like IE www.mchost.com, www.splashhost.com, etc just list them and a few colors you like etc and SYNATIX can make a few mockup's see what you like and go from there.
I am still in need of this work.
My offer would be for shared hosting on a dual p3/1ghz box with 3 or 4 other low resource accounts.
I could also offer colo in return for work, and on-going maintenance. You would have to send a 1u server, and I could include 50gb actual transfer a month.
I prefer to offer hosting in return for work instead of cash.
So if your interested, please email me instead of IM'ing me, I can't keep up with all the darn IM's.
Email admin@defenderhosting.com please.
Thanks,
Tom
PS - would the designer who did the quick mock-up and is on AIM please contact me again.
Stuart 04-06-2002, 10:41 AM Would you be wanting to use the same logo as found on defenderhosting.com at the moment?
Yes, the logo is actually pretty good and I have it in psd format.
The one showing on the page is just ugly based on the html setting for it.
Tom
Acroplex 04-06-2002, 05:23 PM To fix the squashed logo issue, substitute all occurances of:
<img border="0" src="themes/UltraSteel/images/banner.gif" width="780" height="90">
with:
<img border="0" src="themes/UltraSteel/images/banner.gif" width="650" height="110">
You might need to add white padding to extend to the full width of your template.
Also, the web site is not visible with Netscape 4.79, if that makes any difference to you :) Apparently it's some bad nesting of tables.

If you would just read the current web site, it says "First and foremost, NO, this is not our permanent solution for our web site." Why would he want to fix a site that he want to have redesigned?
