View Full Version : How To Determine Banner Advertising Rates

I run a small forum and I have been approached by a company that wants to advertise on my site.

They have asked the 'big question': "How much does it cost?"

I know how to charge for webhosting and other things, but I don't know where to begin with putting a number on this.

Any general rules/formulas I can use to get a general idea on what I should be discussing. I know I can always ask what they are willing to pay, but how do I know the ball park I should be looking at?

To add a bit more info, the potential advertiser sells a product that is of interest to everyone on the forum.

Any ideas will be appreciated. TIA!

Huminie,

Charge what you want.
I'd personally recommend making them at least cover your expenses.

Never ask what they're willing to pay: if it's a large forum I'd recommend 100 a month minimum.

(just a random ballpark figure)

If we see your forum, we can give a better indication. Whats the URL ?

It might be http://www.cigardivan.com. Not sure how many Huminie's there are out there but the admin of those forums seem to be a Huminie.
