Hi all,
Sorry if i haven't gone searching through the forums far enough, but i'm trying to find people who have experience with Map Name .com, but as far as I can tell, all references to Map Name.com are replaced with *'s, and the only discussion has been from a user who now has their account disabled.
I have a number of domains registered with Map Name, and they seem to be an ok host, however i haven't been able to get any technical assistance out of them after sending numerous emails.
Does anyone else here have experience dealing with this company ? And is there a specific reason why their name has been edited out on all the posts i've read ?
Any advice would be great.
Thanks.
KFM

If I recall they were banned for spamming the forums. I think both dew designs and ******** being touted in the spam.

Oh right... Well thanks for that...
Seems strange though...because the only reason i went with them was because i gathered that they didn't send any unsolicited emails or really promote themselves to any great extent... which is exactly what put me off GoDaddy before.
Seems strange that they would be spamming a forum in the hope of getting more business...
What i've been really looking for is a small registrar that follows the Cluetrain Manifesto style of doing business... and i thought i'd found that with map name...
Lately however their lack of communication on any level is whats starting to bother me...
Any other information about them would be great...
Cheers.

I think they used dodora which certainly would raise my suspicions

How would you know if they use dodora ? There are no references i can find anywhere to who the backend is ?
I'd just like to know if anyone else has had favourable experiences with them or not...
If no-one else has, then my suspicions may have some foundation, and i'll have to start looking around for a new registrar... one that's not going to bombard me with spam, and who provides me with the features i need... something that Map Name has been doing relatively well up until now...

I recall seeing references to dodora (maybe I am wrong)

There are no references to dodora that i can see... They describe themselves as domain name service providers, rather than resellers... seeming to suggest that they don't just on-sell domain from other registrars
Unlike thousands of other cloned domain resellers map name . com is not a reseller. map name . com is the working horse for all of the domain services
What this actually means is anyones guess, as further information doesn't seem to be available.
Everything on their site still sounds appealing... just want to know why they don't respond to emails... not even an acknowledgement that they received it...

If you are really hung up on doing business with them just keep trying to contact them

I am already doing business with them... and i think by the third or fourth email they should realise that i would like a response.
My question on this forum is to try and find out if anyone else here has had experiences dealing with them, or perhaps if i representative from there looks at this forum, they may be able to give me the information i need... I know thats how things have worked at other forums i use.
Just have to wait and hope i suppose.

If after 3,4,5 emails no response, you may need to find a new provider

Hi all,
I have problems with *******, too. I payed for hosting, twice,
and nothing. Almost month ago. Also, I send about 10mails
to M Name and nothing. Then, I called them, and except answering
machine I couldn`t talk to anyone. Really, I dont know who rated
them as a 5stars service.
Well, I found on their site, that they respond to faxes (!?) fast.
Anyway I gonna ask to money refund. I have fiew hosting
companies with I work with and this is middleage business.
