I just transferred my domain to Stargate Communications and I need to update my DNS record because I switched hosts. Well, I think the transfer has taken place, but I have not received any type of login information. I created a login and password when I registered with them, but it does not work. My question is, do you use the login and password that you typed in when registering, or do they send you an e-mail with this info? Anyone using these guys whol could help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You should be able to use the log in you created.
However, if there is a problem or inconsistancy with your order, there is the possibility that the system assigned you a different username/password.

Go here (https://www.stargateinc.com/Pages/login.asp) and use the password recovery system. Just enter your domain name in the box at the bottom and they will immediatly send an email to the listed Administrative contact for the domain.

I tried that and it said my domain couldn't be found. I also did a WHOIS and it said it couldn't find any records. But I check to see if my domain is available and then click the info about it, and it says Stargate is my Registrar. So, I don't know what the heck is going on. Hopefully their tech support will provide some answers.

Also, since it lists Stargate as my Registrar, does that mean the transfer has been completed?

You're in a limbo period where while your old registrar has approved the transfer, Stargate hasn't finalized it yet on their end. Be patient; you will get an email from Stargate when it's done and you can see it in your control panel. Usually takes about 1 week beginning to finish in my experience.

The tech support person e-mailed me and said the transfer was complete, but I wasn't in there whois. I sent them back the requested info, but they wanted me to e-mail them my CC#, which I refused since I had already entered it in their secure page and e-mail has no security at all. But hopefully, this will get things sorted out.

Hmmm, I had the same problem a couple of months ago. I was trying to sign up two new domains and while one went through and showed up under my login, the second didn't. In both cases, I didn't receive a single e-mail from Stargate. What happened with the second one is their system, for whatever reason, assigned its own password. I had to get them on the phone to get everything figured out. That alone took more than a week. They also asked me to send my credit card number via e-mail and I thought it was a joke. They apparently are still doing this. I can't believe that a company would ask for their customers sensitive information over a non-secure environment. I got in touch with a Mr. Welbourn and he told me that I was being too paranoid and asked "what is the worst that could happen" regarding the credit card information. I told him that if the information was received by the wrong party, someone could easily attempt to steal my identity. He basically acted like he didn't care. This is definitely not a sign of good customer support. I'm happy that your situation has been resolved but if you had to jump through all those hoops just to get your rightful login, what else can you expect. I have since transferred all but two domains away from them and will be transferring the two that were signed up in February very shortly. I have to wait 60 days to transfer new domains.

Stargate looked good at one time. That is why I signed up with them. Now, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Actually, when anyone asks me who they should register a domain with the first thing I do state is not with Network Solutions and not with Stargate.

Good luck with your future experiences with Stargate.
