What's the word with Hostrocket and/or Jumpline. I haven't seen anything negative in a while and was wondering what their status is now.
Thanks,
Brian

I haven't seen anything negative in a while and was wondering what their status is now. Thanks, Brian Blieb 04-04-2002, 12:52 PM Avoid Jumpline at all costs. They just changed networks and their service/support has gone to retard mode. Try VenturesOnline.com ... I've had success with them thus far! rbro 04-04-2002, 07:33 PM From what I've read, Jumpline is still reeling from their upgrade with many angry ex-customers, although if you go to their website, they'll tell you how their upgrade was a resounding success and they've just been flooded by emails from their thousands of customers thanking them for the upgrade. I don't know about HostRocket.... HRBrendan 04-04-2002, 08:22 PM I'm not sure if my opinion counts but we have basically been working on improving our network infrastructure and support response times for the past month, and are almost (knock on wood) done with the upgrades/changes on both items during the upcoming week (2 weeks for the network upgrades). -Brendan Terradon 04-22-2002, 12:47 PM Jumpline's once stellar support has become almost non-existent since their conversion:bawling: Immediately after "the switch" the ssl location was changed with no notice for a week or more. The private cgi bin location was also changed with no notice for a week or more. Nice way to render an e-commerce site useless. Repeated phone calls just returned a message that they were overwhelmed with positive responses and please use their site to ask for tech support. RIGHT!! I sent numerous requests for information and never once received a reply:mad: It took nearly 2 weeks before enough information was released to the faq's so that I could get the site back to normal. I thought things had died down...NOT!! This weekend I was told the site was down. I called...closed...I sent ticket from website, 26hrs after notifying them, the site was back online. That was Sunday afternoon. Only today, Monday did I get a response that the site had bumped the quota for disk space. Mind you, I had added nothing to the site in over a month...No warning, and horrible response time. I'll be looking for a new host viGeek 04-22-2002, 12:53 PM I have an account with host rocket, everything has been smooth so far. InterSeer has only reported 1 hour of downtime in 4 months that i have had an account there, which is fine with me. Service is fast, technical support is swift. I recommend them Venturesonline.com as stated above is also a very good choice. shiznet 04-22-2002, 11:51 PM just agreeing with the above posts, avoide Jumpline at all costs, we're leaving as soon as I can find a worthy host Endy 04-23-2002, 02:01 AM Yes, avoid Jumpline... I am currently looking for a new host because of problems I have had with them. And I have had problems with them BEFORE they did the upgrade. A hardware failure on the server my site is hosted on resulted in 2 days of being down completly... then right after that they had a router problem so my site was only sometimes availalble for another few days. also, when they had the hardware failure, that wiped out my site and so they used a backup... that was over 2 weeks old. Now, i have my files backed up on my own comp, but I am using a mySQL database as well and that's harder for me to back up since I am only on a 56k... Then they upgraded... they wiped out my site again... and again they restored from a backup that was over 2 weeks old... when i complained to them about that, I got a reply that was less than polite saying that they have a newer backup they could use... I told them not to bother and luckily I had just made my own backup of the database. I will give them some credit, though... tonight my database just sort of disappeared and so I sent in a support request... it was asnwered and resolved within 10 minutes. No data loss this time. But I am still going to look for a new host. </rant> iceishot.com 04-23-2002, 11:09 AM I was afraid of that. I have seen more bad things about Jumpline than good. Thanks for all the comments. Brian Vex 04-23-2002, 11:14 AM I would suggest going with Hostrocket - they seem like a company that stands up to its word and provides customers with up-to-date features and great support :) Avail 04-23-2002, 01:40 PM I've delt with HostRocket in the past, Brendan is running a solid operation over there. RobsPics 04-23-2002, 02:30 PM I have very bad experiences with Jumpline. I really feel ripped off by them. ablaze 04-23-2002, 04:59 PM First post! :D Anyways, I have two domains through Host Rocket, and I've found them to have the best services of the two other hosts I've gone through... one of which was Infinet, who I had many bad experiences with. With HR I hardly have any downtime... in fact, I can't recall the last time my sites were down. When I do have problems, it seems like they're dealt with pretty quickly. I'm biting my tongue while I write this though, because I'm having major problems connecting to the FTP server... as in, I can't. Happened Sunday too... tech support has responded quickly, but I'm still waiting, so... :( Despite that, HR is definitely worth the money, in my opinion... Eiolon 04-23-2002, 05:12 PM When I was on shared hosting a couple years ago, HostRocket happened to be quite good at everything. I didn't leave from anything negative. mdterp 04-23-2002, 06:59 PM Current user of Host Rocket - 2 domains with them. Awesome support and can't get more for your money! HR Best Around! -No- I don't work for them  -Bill -------------------------------------------- Ok, get out of here and go sign up! HRBrendan 04-24-2002, 06:18 AM Thanks guys we're glad you're happy! We're working hard to improve our services each day and its nice to hear its being noticed :) -Brendan Kaumil 09-28-2002, 03:13 PM Jumpline has been really crappy. Their tech support is very rude. I've used them in the past for our smaller sites and database intensive sites and they locked us out of the sites, cancelled our accounts, it was horrible. Knogle 09-28-2002, 08:35 PM Customer of HR here.. Well, HR's got great support, nothing to deny about that. They've got a really understanding and 'supportive' support team too ;-) im happy with everything HR-related except their mail system. Daily I get like about 150 emails, out of which about 130 or so are spam emails. For some reason HR refuses to install spam filters (or at least they say they'll do it "soon") despite many pleas by their members on the forums. Maybe the've got something in mind, I don't know.. Just thought that should be brought up. Other then that, HR is a superb company :) HRBrendan 09-28-2002, 09:25 PM Sanjiv, We have a filtering system in place and running on our dev servers however before it goes live on our main mail system we will be doing at least another week or so of thorough testing. -Brendan |
