Hello Experts!

I have the following quesitons that I hope someone can provide some suggestions/answers/opinions. Thanks in advance!

Background:
- I own a small scale web hosting company in California
- My business has just started for 6 months
- A potential client offered good money to bring his local gambling business (Sports betting) on-line
- My Client's business model is let his Users to place the bet on 'line-of-client' (based on how well he knows his 'gamblers') over the internet.
- My Client will be posting the 'pay-out' rate of the sport games on-line.
- Win or Lose, my Client will pay/collect money offline (in person.)
- i.e. No REAL money transaction will be done via the web site, or the internet
- Client agrees that instead of each User starts with $xxx.00 amount, I can use xxx POINTS instead.

Questions:
1) If My Company register the web address (domain name) for my Client, will my company gets into trouble?

2) Since there is no money transaction done over the internet, can I legally host this web site in the U.S. ?

3) To play it safe, what if I sub-contract out to the hosting companies off-shore...
a) Will my company still gets into trouble? (Since I am still the point of contact for my client.)
b) Can anyone suggest WHERE and WHAT hosting companies (with PROVEN reliability) that are available off-shore where I can LEGALLY secure this business deal?

Any feedback that you guys can provide are greatly appreciated!

Looking forward to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Kiamori

Your client should find a Las Vegas host I think they can host gambling sites. I think anything is legal in Las Vegas as long as they can tax it.

You need to speak with an attorney who specializes in this. If he has the money to start this type of site, he should have the money to retain an attorney.

I spoke to three different attorneys when I was helping someone with a poker website (from registering the domain, banking, to hosting). All three of them claimed to be experts in that field and they all gave me three totally different answers. At that point, I wiped my hands of the matter and respectfully told the client he would need to locate another party to handle these matters
