how do u know if a host is good, i mean a good website give the impression that a website is very professional, but how to trust them???

i was looking at liquid web, are they any good??? i just want some opinions.

About them.. Thier site is good, but it only seems to be 'eye-candy'. I thought about going with them a year ago until a friend of mine signed up and found out how bad they were.

We've had a server with Liquidweb for a few months now and have had nothing but positive experiences with them. Their prices are good, their support is responsive and when we wanted to upgrade the RAM on their managed server, they just charged us a reasonable one-time fee as opposed to dinging us monthly like so many other companies will...

I have a Pro virtual account at LiquidWeb. For 3 months I have never seen my site down (it is checked every hour with internetseer.com), their servers is noticeably faster than ones at other hosters.

In general, I have a good impression about LiquidWeb up to that moment.

I had bad experiences with liquidweb - I would stay away from them. They are slow on account setup, and they take personal revenge on people. One of my accounts was suspended due to a spam complaint of which I had about 10 or so domains with them and they confiscated all my files, would not switch my dns - took me a week to get the site back up, and even suspended my reseller account for no reason and when I called they put it back up and couldn't give me any reason why they did this. I am now with venturesonline and have nothing but good stories to report on them. They give me WHM so I setup my own accounts and not wait a day or two for liquidweb (I had to call and prod them to setup anything that I sold) I moved all my accounts but they were not only less than helpful but obstructive and rude.

I was with them a couple of years ago and I was 95% happy with them. The only hiccup was when I had a problem with the control panel and they did not know how to help me. That was discouraging. I left mainly because I found somewhere cheaper. They were okay - definitely not the worst hosts I've ever used. :)
