Hello,

I am looking for an ssl cert for my website, so when users pay me using a signup form, the little lock icon will be at the bottom, and thier trasncations will be secure sending them over the internet?

I don't want to spend much, so I was thinking about either getting godaddys ssl cert for something like $30 or one from EV1 for like $15.

My question is which one would you pick, and why, and would it support everything I want it to support?

Thank you,
Kyle

We use the StarterSSL from EV1. It is issued by Geotrust actually. We havenot had any report any problems and it seems that both are compatible withe majority of the browsers.

With the two requirements that you gave - it seems both would support it. Keep in mind though if you use a form handler to send you an email, the email would not be secure unless you use PGP or something similiar to encrypt that data.

Hi,
I would reckon Thwarte but it's expensive. But for a security thing, I think it's worthwhile to spend few bucks more.

For the major SSL Cert issuers recent market share information, have a look at

Keep in mind - that is what the website owners actually use. Thawte is issued by Verisign as well just like StarterSSL is issued by Geotrust.

You can also check out RapidSSL (http://www.servertastic.com/store/product.asp?numRecordPosition=1&P_ID=222&strPageHistory=cat&strKeywords=&SearchFor=&PT_ID=94) which is owned by Geotrust as well.
