There plan looks very good and bandwidth well you get a lot :). They are recommended on the cobalt site but i was wondering has anyone had any dealings with them?

The only thing I know about them is that they own http://www.cari.net/ and that they have pretty good network performance.

Where are they recommended on the cobalt site? 400GB transfer on a RAQ4 for $250 a month. This offer is surely too good to be true.

Have you checked the terms and conditions out?

They (annoyingly) have the TOS after Step One of the signup process, but I dummied the info to get to it and it didn't have anything like I was expecting. Actually quite readable.

Tera is coming out with something for RaQ4's as well (but not with 400GB). Steve mentioned it at the bottom of a support request I got back yesterday. It looked pretty good as well.

Has someone asked them about the 400GB yet? Eddie? :)

I may be totally off base here, I was once a host2own customers, lasted all of 2 weeks, then a full refund.

In any event, Im not sure, but isn't there a difference between GB and Gb, isn't it something like gigabytes compared to gigabits?

I can say that their support even calls you back when you specify that it's an emergency, they did with me and got me on track.

I left them because I was new and knew nothing about the cobalt raq products, hence I wanted to install mysql, but they had already isntalled the client portion of mysql, to connect with their mysql servers which would have cost me an extra $10.00 per month to use, when you condider that I have like 25 sites that use mysql, it's gets pretty pricey, so I asked them how to uninstall the client portion of the mysql so that I could install the full pkg file from cobalt and they informed me that they could not tell me how to uninstall anything on the server. So I left them and moved on to others.

In any event, I was pretty sure that their is a difference between GB and gb, and 400Gb might be 40GB, Im not clear on this, but am interested.

Host2Own stated very clearly on their web page that you'll get 400 Gigabits of bandwidth for $250.00 per month. This translated into approximately 50 Gigabytes.

400 / 8 = 50GB

* 1 byte = 8 bits

Thats kinda what I thought, it is misleading to some people (like me) that dont know the difference between a byte and a bit. It looks better to some people to say that you get 400 Gb then to say you get 50GB, since like me, a lot of people dont know the difference and assume that 400Gb is equivelant to 400GB.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Actually the site says 100/GB bandwidth and $100 for a further 100GB.

The only other thing that concerns me is the following:

Fully Loaded Cobalt
Hosting Appliance:

- RaQ4 Software
- 160 RAM - PC100
- 20 GB Hard Drive
- 300 MGhz Processor
- 100GB Data Transfer/Mo
- Setup Fee: $ 0

This leads me to believe that it is truly a raq3 with the raq4 software installed, so........

Im sure some of you remember what happened with the other raq provider with raq3's and raq4's.....

The difference here is that host2own is being upfront about what you are getting, atleast to me, by telling me iM getting an appliance with a 300Mhz processor, this shows me that Im getting a raq3 with raq4 software installed on it.

Now If i could install the raq4 software on my existing raq3 server, I'd be tickled beyond belief.

The Difference of software between the two is only php4 and mysql pre-installed right?? or is there some other difference to?

the main difference is php, mysql, and asp. Predominantly the only thing I care about is the php, I have installed mysql and php on our own server, but the ability to automate the turning on or off of php is what is great, can be done manually, but such a pain to have to keep telneting in and hand editing.

Im sure there are other differences, but I think the asp is probably the most expensive of the differences, since as far as I know the raq4's come with asp preinstalled. I could be wrong, but the raq4 (aka raq3) that we had already had asp installed on it, where as the true raq3i that we have now does not come with asp pre installed and costs an additional 695.00 or somewhere around there.
