Geek Hosting, a hosting provider that hosts over 7,000 domains is seeking a full time level 3 systems administrator that is able to work from 9 AM to 5 PM Central Time from a remote location. The hours are somewhat flexible depending on your scheduling needs.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to responding to, troubleshooting, and/or solving technical support inquires over Geek Hosting’s ticket and live chat systems, and the candidate must therefore have excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English. Technical support over the telephone is not offered to clients, but the candidate must be able to communicate over the telephone as well as the major messengers with staff and management.
The ideal candidate has at least five years experience with Linux as a server operating system, and at least three years experience with Red Hat Linux, and cPanel/WHM. In addition, the candidate should have extensive knowledge of Apache, ProFTPD, Exim, OpenSSH, BIND, and MySQL. The candidate should also be able to troubleshoot hardware issues, and should have knowledge of networks and firewalls including TCP/IP, Ethernet, etc. In addition, the candidate should be familiar with domains, DNS, etc.
The candidate must be able to work from home during our normal business hours, and must be available by phone and instant messenger during his or her shift. Pay is extremely competitive and based upon knowledge and experience.
Outsourcing or server administration companies need not apply – we are seeking a member of our team.
