View Full Version : WHT look-a-likes ?
.::DefCon::. 04-03-2002, 07:22 PM Hey guys,
I love WHT, and would never leave them (if things stay as they are now, ofcourse ;) ), but I wonder if there are any other forums/communities/hangouts where hosts can promote their services?
I already know WHT, freewebspace.net and HostingDiscussions (last one isn't that popular yet, but has lot of potential).
Any others?
Thank you, :)

WEB Host Directory, has like 4,000 registered members.
.::DefCon::. 04-03-2002, 08:35 PM Nice! Thx 4 the tip. :)
I also like to inform that I've been approached by someone very ambitious who has started developing a WHT look-a-like, just what I was looking for, and he asked me to co-operate with him in this project.
I accepted, and we're now getting everything ready for launch. :)
I will post a url here as soon as we're finished (within a week or so).
Ofcourse all other tips are welcome too. ;)
Kind regards,
Thomas.
Found this (http://webmaster-forums.com/) the other day, looks like a busy place.

I was addited to SPF and WHT at the same time a while back....I lost too much sleep and decided that I had to choose one or the other...
Can anyone guess which one I chose???:D
I've never been to a .info site - what's it like?

Chicken 04-04-2002, 01:48 AM Just a note...
In this short thread alone, two members have posted links to their own sites, new forums. Now, nothing is stopping you or me from starting a forum (nothing wrong with that), but don't try to pass it off as 'something you just found' and post the link.
Result: Two members banned.
There are two places that you can advertise a site you own. One is your signature, the other is in the ad forums.

Chicken, you'll probably see more of this as this whole RS deal blows through here.....
Chicken 04-04-2002, 02:23 AM Yeah, I realize this, and the issue isn't that there will be forums springing up (I understand this), but rather spamming the URL in places it shouldn't be spammed.
Other hosting forums have come up in the past. At times we've removed posts in the Related Offers & Request forum, as another hosting directory isn't exactly an offer nor a request. If it seemed to offer the members something different, and was an actual resource (or future one), then I believe we allowed one (1) thread to be posted, announcing the new site. Carbon copies were removed. It is a grey area, and I suppose certain parts of the guidelines prevent it altogether.

Sorry for my 'dry as a rock' sarcasm there :)

I think in such cases a "Cool Links" forum might be needed...
