Whitaker 04-03-2002, 07:02 PM Hello,

- 1.7 GHz Pentium 4 Processor
- Abit BD-7 RAID Motherboard (Has Onboard IDE RAID Controller)
- 512 MB PC2100 266 MHz Crucial DDR RAM
- 2 60GB 7200 RPM Maxtor Hard Drives IDE

Whitaker 04-04-2002, 02:33 AM I'm sorry but I can't sell this box at a loss. I thought I would try and offer this box to web hosting talk members first as a whole instead of going and parting it out.
Thanks,
Greg
how much is S+H
also any gfx / sound cards?
Akash 04-04-2002, 03:02 AM here's some questions:
what's on the harddrive right now
how much more ram can i get in there
how many more hard drives can i get in there
Whitaker 04-04-2002, 04:57 PM Shipping and handling will be approximately $50 via FEDEX depending on where the box is going.
There is a 16MB video card in the box right now but there is not a sound card.
Redhat 7.1 is currently installed on the box
I will not be adding any RAM or Hard Drives to this box so what you see is what you get.
Thanks for the questions,
Greg

I figured that, but I wanted to know what the maximum size available on the board is....
Whitaker 04-04-2002, 05:09 PM - The case has three 5.25" bays and three 3.5" bays
- The motherboard supports up to 2 GB of DDR RAM
- Oh I forgot to mention earlier when the question was posed about a sound card... the box isn't totally lacking a sound card because the motherboard has onboard sound
PlanetDigita 04-04-2002, 11:18 PM Mind letting us in on where you found the great deal on rackmounts.
If anyone has a great source for 1u rackmounts I would greatly appreciate the info.
Thanks

Couldn't someone go to TigerDirect or a similar place and get a system like this new, for just about that much, give or take a little, and also have the warantee that way? Where did you get this and how much did you pay? You stated you didn't want to take a loss, but I hope that doesn't mean you want to get what you paid for it new. Is there any other hardware options for this system, or is that all it's got? I.e., is there a choice of the system without Maxtor drives and maybe another brand instead -- of is this the already put together system and that's just what it's going to be?

You can get a Athlon XP 1700 for that =)
Whitaker 04-04-2002, 11:36 PM I built this computer myself and what I'm asking is what I paid for it... nothing more. This is a what you see is what you get deal.. There isn't going to be any options to add hardware to it.
Thanks for the q's,
Greg
coolguy23 04-04-2002, 11:38 PM ok if you still fell like selling to a poor teen like me i'll get you 800 bucks somehow....
coolguy23 04-04-2002, 11:41 PM ok how about $1300 canadian,
Tim Greer 04-04-2002, 11:46 PM Prices at Tigerdirect, although I couldn't find the board.
P4 1.6 GHZ CPU $170
512 DDR PC2100 RAM $140
Mid tower Case $ 50-ish
2 Maxtor 60 GIG 7200 RPM drives $250
Belkin NIC $ 35
Board? I don't know yet, say $120 to $170.
So, $755 - $815, roughly.
Throw in a CD ROM, Heatsink, Floppy and $50-oddish for any off prices and we have about $960 new (or less, possibly), pretty much at most. All under warantee and you can get immediate refunds or replacements if something goes wrong. I think it's reasonable to expect to get between $600 and $700 for it since it's not new, from a computer shop like Tigerdirect. Shipping will run you about the same too. You simply can not expect anyone reasonable to want to pay the same price they can get it new, when buying from a private party. Having nothing to do with the fact that they don't know how old it is, how hot it might have gotten, etc. No offense, but I just think it's unreasonable to expect that much -- even if it is a nice system and pretty much the same quality as new, I'm sure (other than I'd not have used Maxtor drives, personally).
Whitaker 04-05-2002, 12:16 AM Tim,
Like I have said the box is brand new... I built it a couple weeks back. If someone wants to go and buy the same box from Tiger Direct that is perfectly fine with me. I'm simply trying to get the best price possible for this box since I have no use for it now.
Greg
Tim Greer 04-05-2002, 01:41 AM I didn't mean to give the impression that it's not worth it, since it's new, etc. I also wasn't trying to steer people to another source to get the same thing either. I was simply trying to suggest why you might want to not seek the same amount, so you can sell it, if even at a small loss. However, if it's worth it to someone, that's all that matters. I'd rather have a mid/full tower system over a rack personally and I'm sure there's other's that feel the same. I suppose this is an opportunity for someone to get a full system where it's altogether and know all the parts work (and work together) and that might be a plus for some people. Good luck.
Whitaker 04-07-2002, 10:37 AM Hey,
