View Full Version : Google's logo!
adaml 08-04-2005, 07:01 PM Hello,
Right iv been speaking with my partner about logo designs, and we have come to a clash:
- is the google logo serious?
- does it have a 1px stroke and drop shadow?
My point is of course Google's logo is serious! There a big business! Its not just playful and colourful it uses a serious and accurate colour scheme and a serious font!
Who agrees?
flatlyimpressed 08-06-2005, 04:56 PM dont know about the stroke but it obviously has a drop shadow.
I think the colors represent a fun enviroment that google seems to have, from what I have read about there offices they have a little too much fun, but hey its Goooooogle.
Arrelius 08-06-2005, 04:59 PM Well, yes it's serious :P And no, there's not a 1px stroke. Its a simple shadow. Everyone can see that :P
J&LHosting 08-06-2005, 05:13 PM Why does it matter? It's obviously professional enough to make them one of the largest web revenue sites ever. Looks like they're doing a good job at it too.
Jahm4n 08-06-2005, 05:36 PM I think it started out as just a logo and then became somewhat serious.
Jahm4n 08-06-2005, 05:38 PM and no, there is no stroke, and if there is, I need either glasses or a microscope
I think the google logo is both serious, and playful at the same time.
If it were one solid color, it would be serious.
The stroke.. After zooming in 1600%, i can't really see a stroke. I just believe that's the way the dropshadow is positioned.
Sting13 08-06-2005, 08:22 PM No stroke, its a shadow. And google is just fun like mikeylove said. The colors show this.
Hiall 08-06-2005, 08:33 PM definatly for fun.. although it works.. so heh
mbalkhi 08-07-2005, 05:13 AM its serious i agree with the drop shadow. and there is no stroke its obvious
dslftp 08-07-2005, 11:03 AM I like it - some subtle touches goin on there.
Dave
dreamhostaffiliat 08-07-2005, 03:57 PM It is professional looking, and it has bevel and emboss + drop shadow, no stroke though
beecoder 08-08-2005, 02:18 AM i think it is a friendly logo with serious impression
dollar 08-08-2005, 02:57 AM What the heck is a serious logo?
Dictionary.com says: Grave in quality or manner
Anmar Al-Shaibani 08-08-2005, 04:06 AM Well, I think that it is a serious and professional logo and no there ain't any 1 px Border/Stroke.. They could make it more professional though, like revamp the logo or something?
Anmar.
dollar 08-08-2005, 04:38 AM Why would they bother?
Points in case:
1. MSN (Pretty Butterfly)
2. Ebay (Bright colors)
3. MS Windows (bright colored windows)
4. Linux (Penguin)
5. Ask Jeeves (Tuxedo man)
the list goes on and on ;)
Google is not looking to attract IT lovers as their main base, they are looking for the everyday internet user. Teens, Schools, Moms, Dads, etc.... These people generally love bright colors ;)
IconPacks 08-09-2005, 07:56 PM Yes, it is a serious, professional logo, however it is also "fun", and that plays exactly into Google's way of thinking. They have simple clean services with a friendly and "fun" way of doing things. However this shouldn't make them any less professional.
The logo does not have a stroke however, although it does have a drop shadow.
