View Full Version : Domain Name Still Not Resolve Correctly

I moved my domain name beetown.com from a shared server (216.202.17.57) to a dedicated server (216.40.227.216) at RackShack. It has been a month so you'd think it should resolve correctly by now. But I suspect there is a problem. I can't say what, all I know is at least from one location, beetown.com is still pointing to the old machine.

I temporarily fixed the problem by putting a meta tag redirect at the old machine to point to the preview URL of the new machine(216.40.227.216/~admin3/).

I didn't tell the people at the old server that I moved. Could that be the problem?

Can someone check the DNS and see if it is set correctly? The nameservers should be..

ns1.beetown.com 216.40.227.216
ns2.beetown.com 216.40.227.191

It seems like it's going to RackShack.
Are you sure your box is set up right?
I PM'd ya my traceroute results.

I looked at the traceroute you sent me (Thanks!). It ended up at 216.40.227.216, which is where I wanted (at RackShack). So I don't know why this particular PC I'm using sends me to my old server at 216.202.17.57. Could it because the nameserver was cached? It's been a month though.

How did you setup the domain on the box? Because I can't imagine that a domain will cache for more then a month. Unless you haven't raised the serial number of the zone file. For the domain.

When I said cached, I meant cached in the ISP that this particular PC is connected to. Because everyone I talked to said beetown.com resolves to 216.40.227.216, which is correct. Only when I use this PC, it points to the old server.
