Marts 04-04-2002, 10:05 PM I think this is what you are asking just put @www.yourdomain.com in the alias filed, then all emails sent to anything@yourdoamin.com will goto your email CHeers cyrusTvirus 04-06-2002, 07:41 AM Be aware of the fact that you are an easy catch for spammer, cause your alias will always match, we had a customer once who got overloaded with spam. Rob Chicken 04-06-2002, 12:30 PM Agree, and it might be better to set up aliases instead of a catch-all. Catch-alls are great until you realize that they catch everything, even the tons of garbage you don't want it to catch. indyjon 04-06-2002, 02:07 PM Or..... create a user for your catchall and monitor it via webmail. I created a handful of alias' for my main user id then created another user id for everything else. cyrusTvirus 04-08-2002, 06:18 AM Still it gives you a lot of useless work to monitor is over webmail. Are you that curious that you want to catch every thing what is send to you ? indyjon 04-08-2002, 10:24 AM Well, yeah I guess I am. I missed an important string of emails one time because I didn't use catchalls. Have you ever received an email from an angry customer wondering why you haven't answered their email?? Only to find out that they typoed the username of the email address. It's not time consuming to look into the one account that gets all of the catch alls for all of domains once or twice a week. It is 95% spam and I use those domains to make my sendmail spam filters..... I get almost zero spam nowadays. cyrusTvirus 04-11-2002, 04:04 AM In fact no we haven't received angry email because of the fact that emails weren't received. You should keep in mind that normal post is also only delivered at the right spot when the adress exsists and is right. So we have the same policy for email, on our website we point out very very clear which adress to use (btw we use mailform for archiving purposes and giving each mail a corresponding number) if the wrong adress is used no email is received. Our customers know that and accept it so actually I don't see the problem really, and you have lazy customers ;-) have them look on your website frequently.... Regards Robbert |
