Hi I'm from somewhere in Asia and am having a lot of problems trying to buy stuff online... used western union to buy stuff before but it is too costly given the stuff I want to buy - looking at additions of at least 12% for every purchase.

My parents won't let me use their credit cards because they say it is really insecure and everything. They do have a point and I've never been able to argue my way out - and don't think they'll ever change their mind...

Does anyone have any suggestion to this?

Just a thought... if someone could provide such a service wouldn't he/she/they have a instant potential market worldwide?

Can you try checking out your local bank? Maybe they have some options that would be good for you. Can you open a checking account?

Ha Ha I was right!!! :D :D :D

seriously though...

A checking account allows you to write checks. This would give you multple methods of payment then...

Online Check
Debit Card
Check Card
or you could tie it to a PayPal account

Can't get paypal where I'm staying :( They don't have it for some reason though one of the neighbouring country has it.

Is there a minimum age required for a checking account? (sounds good to me if it works :)) I'm 16 so...

You'd have to check with your local laws for that one...

Here in the US, if you're under 18, you have to have your parents co-sign for the account

Guess it'll need be a trip to the bank. Oh well..

what's the difference between a
check card
debit card
online check
credit card?

Are the other three able to function exactly the way a credit card function? Or does the seller have to have another merchant account or something to accept them? Will those 3 work at ebay? (would be a very good news to me :D bought a couple of stuff, cost me 30% more than if you used a credit card :()

a check card is basically a debit card with a mastercard/visa (or other major cc company) logo on it. You will be able to use it as a credit card but the money is withdrawn from your checking account as soon as you use it.

A debit card does not have a mastercard/visa logo on it and you will only be able to use it where debit cards are accepted.

With online checks, you enter your checking account number and the money is basically wired electronically from your account to the merchant's

with a credit card, you use it to buy the merchandise today, but you dont' have to pay for it until you get your statement. If you don't pay the balance on your statement then be prepared to pay high interest...
