BoardAide (http://www.boardaide.com) is still looking for someone interested in running a forum community dedicated to bulletin board support.

This would be a great oportunity for someone to gain experience.

It would also help out WHT by me not needing to keep posting this request. :D

Instructions are on site if you're interested.

Or post here if you would rather.

Hello SoftwareRevue,

I may be interested in this position....
I would like more information on what is required though, I am not sure if I would be the best person or not...
How much time will be required?
What kind of Knowledge is needed?
Are there any benifits for the lucky person who takes this on?

Thanks, and good luck finding the right person...

Thanks, and good luck finding the right person... Time required will be dependant upon how fast the community grows.
Knowledge; although essentially minimal, would require template modifications. The forum we are using is written in PERL. Although an understanding of PERL isn't essential, it may help. Some HTML knowledge would go a long way. As there are template editors provided.
Benefits would be the experience one would gain from running such a community. We're not it in for a profit. We just want to provide the service. If you enjoy helping people; this could be a way to gain the experience of running *some*thing. :)

lol... "*some*thing" hehe
Well, this sounds intriuging...
About "benefits" I wasn't referring to money, I was just wondering if you were offering any perks, such as free services that are offered by the site or something, I hadn't really taken a good enough look at the site, I was in the middle of things.
I am definately interested, my only real concern is time... if it grows very fast I am not going to be able to keep up, I know that...

As for my knowledge... I have an understanding of programming, and I am conceptually, a programmer, however I do not have enough knowledge in any language to consider myself a programmer, or even a script writer. I do not have any real experience with PERL, but I have read things about it I suppose. HTML I know. I have made several websites, and even done a few for businesses in exchange for money. I am not an expert web designer or anything, but I understand HTML and other web authoring things like flash and java-script. My skills are well rounded, but all too little. I have spent much time on message boards, and have run my own in the past.

Like I said, I am interested, and if you are willing to accept me on the basis that I will put in the time that I can (which may be too little at times) I would be more than happy to do whatever I can to help.

You get to figure out how to spend your time. How to delegate responsibilities to those you know and trust. How to build a community through cooperation. The list goes on. But, I'm sure you get the idea. :)
I'll be in touch.
