We are using Cerberus, http://www.cerberusweb.com and LOVE the product. You have the ability to do custom agent notifications.

Visit their site for more information or holler at my here. I would be glad to help.

Does the free license version offer the ability to text to a cell?

There are features to setup what is called a "Watcher." The watcher may be your cell phone's email address or your email address. Watchers receive copies of actual tickets.

Additionally, there is a notification system that will will send a short message to a notification address on a new ticket assign, reply from a customer, and a new ticket.

The product is available with a free version that supports the checking of one email address. Download and try her out!

I'm not sure if something like that will work out if many tickets are submitted at once, have you looked into using a pager for this kind of tasks? I know wholesaleinternet uses it in which if someone emails their support email, it forwards the messages to the owner's pager etc.. Might want to look into this solution.

The new Kayako version 3 actually has a PDA version so if you have something like a Treo you can get the emails + view the pages. Currently my Treo checks the support mail every 3 minutes so I always know what is going on in the support desk. Also, I have it setup so server monitoring messages are sent to the phone.

A lot of cell phones have their own email address such as 5555555555@cellularprovider.com.

I personally use Verizon, and have registered at vtext.com so SMS messages can be sent to username@vtext.com and are then passed along via SMS to my cell phone.

You may not need any special software, if something like this is supported by your cellular provider. Simply add an additional notification email for new tickets.

Just something to think about I suppose.

I had not actually thought of that - good idea, I am going to check with my provider.
