April 1, 2002 couldn't have been better.
Terps take the NCAA championship for the first time in 79 years.
Orioles beat the Yankees 10-3 on opening day and Clemens gets dinged for a grand slam.
Ahh, Spring. :)

Yes, but knowing my beloved O's, that'll be their only victory of the season :D.

I dunno, I have a good feeling about this post-Cal season. There are some hungry kids on the roster who can now step out of the shadows. This year, they are the ones getting the attention.

I was going to add a third item to my "perfect" list, but couldn't quite work it in. It went something like this:
Walking back to our car from the Orioles game with my wife (She Who Must Be Obeyed), who do I see getting out of a cab but none other than Marvin Hamlisch.
Me: Look, it's Marvin Hamlisch!
SWMBO: Who's that? Some nerd friend of yours from high school?
Me: No. You know, the composer.
SWMBO (not even looking): Never heard of him.
Me: What? "The Way We Were", "The Sting". . .
SWMBO: That's isn't him.
Me: How do you know it isn't him? You said you never even heard of him.
SWMBO: Because you're full of crap most of the time.
Me: Hey, even a stopped clock is right twice a day. I say it's Marvin Hamlisch. I'm going to go up to him and say hello.
SWMBO: You'll just make a fool of yourself. How do you know he's just not some guy who looks like him?
Meanwhile Marvin Hamlisch passes right by us, practically bumping into me.
Me: No question. That's him. Those clothes are from Burberry's or I'm Dan Quayle.
SWMBO: If he's a composer than why's he carrying a briefcase? I've never seen a composer carry a briefcase.
Me: Maybe he's got sheet music in there. I dunno.
SWMBO: If he's so famous what's he doing walking the streets of Baltimore? I say he's an accountant and you've had one too many six dollar beers.
During this tender exchange Marvin Hamlisch ducks into the Renaissance Hotel. When I get home a Google search reveals that Marvin Hamlisch is the conductor of the Baltimore Pops Symphony Orchestra.
I love my life.
:D
