What are the ups and downs of propay... Is it flexible enough for webhosting needs. I am mainly going to use them to process credit cards and hopefully it will be partially if not fully automated with their recurring feature.

What are some other good and cheap processors. My budget is low so I cannot spend a lot for merchant account related fees. I've already spent hundreds on other things...

They are good for low volumes because you have to enter the details for each transaction manually. They do have an XML interface, but to quote their site:

To purchase a single license* of ProPay's XML Interface for mass credit card processing now for only $395 (2 hours of technical support included, $195 a year renewal fee), click on the 'Buy Now' button

So its not really cheap!

Okay forget them I guess... I want to automate the credit card purchasing part. I don't want to manually enter cc #'s... Unfortunately my time is limited in this hosting venture as well. Unless I see some results and can afford to reduce other work.

What are some other good and cheap processors. Web_res, have you tried http://echo-inc.com? We've been using that for quite a while and love it! They are very cost effective (some people call them cheap), but I've never had any problem on any credit card transaction.

You can use their interface, but we automate all our billing with php using their gateway. Very flexible. It does take a lot of burden off from our sholder. :)

Plus, the customer support is 24/7/365. You will always get a live person (even at 2 am), and I've never left a message on their voice mail (I don't know if they even have voice mail).

And I'm not affiliated with them in any way. I just thought that good business needs to be promoted.

I am also searching for a 'cost-effective' payment service for my new web hosting company. I could see in the there are many comments on 2checkout.com

In addition to the credit cards, I also want a service like if my clients want to pay by bank draft or wire transfer they should be able to do it to my payment service provider; example to my 2checkout.com account and NOT to my company account.

I don't know if you are looking for pricing or features, but here's a short list of some more processors you can look at:

- Revecom
- 2Checkout
- PayPal
- WorldPay

:D

i wouldn't use any one these gateways mentioned above , basically these companies are people who have jumped on the pymnt processing bandwagon . Companies like netbilling.com,ibill.com, and authorize.net would be company's i would look into .

Netbilling.com: , i have worked with this company and continue you to do so , they have excellent tech support , easy to set up templates , free shopping cart , all payments take place on there secure server with verisign cert (this saves you money) , you have access to your database ,no software rental fee's, process tranactions in realtime , manually settle batches , customer service options , friendly staff , im glad i found these people =]

ibill.com: is a very large company , they have many clients , in order to reach the size of ibill , its obvious they're doing something right , i havent completely looked into there service , but i know many people are happy with them

authorize.net:probably the largest of all companies , geared to meet anyones needs , i started using them when i first started , 99 dollar setup including the merch acct , (yes a real merch acct ) , the only company i found using authorize.net with this price was wells fargo , hmmm ... i would have to say wells fargo is pretty well known bank , so i trust authorize.net , they never did me wrong

as far as the companies mentioned in above posts, they'll rape you for auth charges and % take aways , you wanna leave , have fun with the database , plus i like talking to real sales reps and technical support people . like i said with netbilling , its very personal , i feel like when i call there for anything , im always talking with a FRIEND not a business or service provider , and i think thats what makes the difference between all of these company's

p.s. , all of these services might cost more upfront , but trust me you get what you pay for

I am looking for a credit card / payment processing company to accept credit card, bank draft and wire transfer payment from my clients on my company behalf.

I know the famous in this board is 2checkout! But I do not know whether they also accept bank draft and wire transfers in addition to the CC.

I sent an email to the 2checkout support but NO reply!

I don't mean to be rude to your first post, but if I want to talk with a friend... I'll call a friend. And they better not charge me a 15% discount rate like your recommendation of www.ibill.com .

Business is business. I'm not giving up 10% to 12% of my gross because some credit card processor is nice to me. I'd rather deal with PayPal's customer abuse department and ProPay's quirkiness than give up my hard earned money.

Then, when I do see my friends, the round of drinks is on me with the money I saved!

Ya, I think even if you get into real high volume billing you can get a discount with iBILL...then it's only like...12%...I mean, they really give till it hurts...

But, you can have customers do telephone billing.....35%....

You think iBill's 15% is bad? Try the real 25% that they actually take out! Then 6 months later you get that 10% back.

I almost went with them until I saw that. Here's the math I came up with:

Revecom $10 payment:10-5.5%-1=$8.60 paid to you, 8.60/10=0.86, or 14% paid to Revecom. So 1 percent, hey I didn't mind because they're services look better, buuut. The 10% scared me away.

well , as stated , like i posted , obviously someone wasnt paying attention , i said i never dealt with ibill , i was comparing real processing company's that are well known in the industry to ones like revecom who charge a dollar per auth . Now you can look at it like this , if five people come to your site , they signup , you find there there card information is shady , you just spent 5 dollars , for what? as opposed to lets say IBILL who charges 15 cents per auth , not including any merch charges , so yeah , ibill might be a tad more expensive , but less in reality .Anyways ... i wasnt talking about ibill , i was clearly talking about authorize.net and netbilling.com , which i notice i got no comment on.

thanks

and im sorry , 5 percent is nuts , lets talk standard 1.5 percent and 15 cents per transaction , which would be a whole 30 cents , as opposed to a 1.40 ... that makes my ass hurt just thinking about it

How about some opinions of hostcharge.com?
