View Full Version : Not too happy about this...
TrentTech 07-27-2005, 10:06 PM I just got a call from someone saying "Oh yeah thanks a lot for making my thread get closed by a Community Liasion and-" I asked how they got my number, then went on, I hung up. Does anyone know who this is, what thread it was, and how the heck they could've gotten my number?
EDIT: I'd really like this answered, perferably by a Community Liasion/Leader
SoftWareRevue 07-27-2005, 10:13 PM Pretty easy to pull up your phone number from whois.
As for, who it was . . . no idea.
TrentTech 07-27-2005, 10:15 PM Okay, I'd really appreciate it if you can find out who, if not, I guess that's okay
As SoftWareReview already said, it's just not possible for any of us to know who called you. Maybe you should be asking the phone company to get you the number?
TrentTech 07-27-2005, 10:50 PM I meant I thought a Liasion would know because the guy called saying a Liasion closed one of his threads an suspended him because of me
WarpFactor 07-27-2005, 11:02 PM Hello,
I would suggest that if you do not have caller ID from where you can retrieve the number and then do a reverse phone directory search, then it may be wise to contact your telephone service provider. If you noted that this person contacted you with a threatening demeanor, I am certain that they would pull up your call record and give you the number which called you. If they cannot to whom the number is registered, you can look it up through the Reverse Phone Directory. Hope this helps.
anon-e-mouse 07-27-2005, 11:05 PM I don't see any threads that you were involved in closed.
TrentTech 07-27-2005, 11:33 PM Sorry, messed up on the other post. I mean deleted, not closed
Jeremy Johnstone 07-27-2005, 11:42 PM Phone company won't be able to tell you without a police incident report filed. I doubt anyone here can shed any more light than that for you I am afraid.

Maybe you should have asked them, before hanging up? :)

oo nice one Bob, I didn't even think about that, probably would've hung up too if it happened to me heh.
TrentTech 07-28-2005, 07:53 AM I did. I asked "Who's this and how'd you get the number?" and they continued "Yeah and now I can't post for 2 MONTHS!"

Hmm did you ask "Are you sure you got the right number?" lol from looks of it he could've been looking for another WHT member ;)
camers 07-29-2005, 06:58 PM WHT stalkers now..
You're giving the lame guy some attention by posting this you know?
TrentTech 07-29-2005, 08:57 PM It wasn't a wrong number, he asked "Is this 'TrentTech' from Web Hosting Talk?"
Dan L 07-29-2005, 09:35 PM Well, uh, do you remember reporting any posts?
dollar 07-30-2005, 12:36 AM I can't wait for the day somebody calls me from WHT. That would be fun.
TrentTech 07-30-2005, 08:28 AM Not as fun as you think JADH...
Aussie Bob 07-30-2005, 10:17 AM I've got a few calls from folks on WHT. Pretty friendly stuff, and they just wanted to chat with me about business and life etc. I should have an Aussie Bob chat line @ $2.95/minute. :D
RossH 07-30-2005, 11:07 AM How dare you......miss the opportunity to sell them hosting :D
Fair Dinkum 07-30-2005, 05:21 PM Yeah, I have received a call too a while ago. Pretty odd. Mine was from the anti-servermatrix zealot PSFServers. He was polite enough, but wanted to carry his reasoning for being anti-servermatrix vs my being happy with them, over to a phone call. Some people... LOL
Tuddy 07-31-2005, 01:09 AM maybe he got your number from your website
