Interplanetary Hosting Receives 2.3 Billion seed funding.
Atlanta, GA, April 1st 2002
In another move that confirms the web hosting market is contributing to global warming, Interplanetary Hosting has received 2.3 Billion seed funding from various blackmailed Enron executives. A 250,000 sq. foot NOC is under construction in Atlanta, GA where the business will be based. Security is running high as rednecks are employed to guard the building with high powered deer rifles and shotguns. The name of the venture comes from the companies new generation focus of interplanetary communication.
Working with Moon Land Selling Inc, Interplanetary Hosting will be building a multi-million sq. foot hosting facility on earths moon. "They [Moon Land Selling Inc] have been very helpful in getting us all the land we need on the moon and even other planets.", says Joe Bizzybody who has no relation to Interplanetary Hosting. So far 10,000 sq. feet of datacenter space is available on the moon, but is filling up fast as companies take advantage of the dirt cheap colocation prices. "Because acres on the moon only cost dollars instead of thousands of dollars as land on earth does we can offer the cheapest colocation service on the moon, Build out costs are significantly less than on earth as the moon climate is almost perfect for running computer equipment."
Every month a space shuttle leased from an anonymous space agency takes up new servers and diesel fuel for the generators on the moon. Primary power is provided via solar panels, immense battery arrays, and diesel generators. The moons natural cold environment keeps servers cool. A human housing building is being built that will house up to 100 workers for Interplanetary Hosting that will stay up for one month shifts and alternate between staff at the Atlanta NOC.
Pricing for one cabinet is around $250 MRC and includes a 10Mbit dedicated pipe, for $2,000 MRC a private cage with 10 racks and 100Mbit dedicated pipe is available. Accommodation for larger clients is available, and the company is hoping to allow larger clients to send up staff to the moon. All prices include power, remote reboot and remote hands. The company is hoping to offer dedicated hosting soon.
