Which do you like best?
![]() | View Full Version : Ensim or Plesk? fractiousws 04-01-2002, 06:59 PM Which do you like best? byron29 04-01-2002, 08:23 PM This is difficult... I love ensim....but to get neat features like bulk reselling space, you need to massively upgrade. Now, you get Plesk, which is much more pricy than Ensim, and you get dull as dishwater white and black....gooodness...blah. The locations of tools in the reseller/site manager admin panel make about the same amount of sense and sticking your hand in a hornets nest (IMHO). We need something skinable like Cpanel (which looks GOOD and has a great layout), the admin panel of Ensim (light years ahead of WHM), and the reseller/multiple domain features of Plesk. That would make me a happy man! <oh...and lets say, not 25,000$> Cheers, Byron joethong 04-02-2002, 05:29 AM We're using Plesk and the package is really great and flexible enough to do most of the stuff. Maybe you have a configuration problem? avara 04-02-2002, 07:45 AM We host our customers using CPanel, but also have a server with Ensim for media files. In my experience, people don't like Ensim very much. I don't know about Plesk, but when I did use it, I didn't really like it very much (it seemed very dull and slow for me as well, I don't know why that is). In terms of the end-user GUI, I think CPanel is the customer favorite, though it is sometimes buggy. I think it will be interesting to see VirtualCP and HostGUI when they are released. But back to Ensim and Plesk, I like Plesk slightly better, though overall I think they leave much to be desired for. rey 04-02-2002, 11:29 AM Between Ensim and Plesk, Plesk is our choice. Both companies have done a very wonderful job, and the reason we go with Plesk is just some prefference which may not apply to others. So far, we have been very happy with Plesk. It's very stable, secure, clean and professional. Just like Avara said, the GUI is more simple than the CPanel (I think CPanel has one of the best skin out there). Plesk also has a neat help button on each page as an additional value. Plesk support team has been a great help. They've never let me down on any of my request for help. Todd, Adam, Bryan, Anton, and ... I wish I can mention them all, are very nice people. I love doing business with them. Plus, the plesk forum is great! People are helping each other like crazy. I haven't seen anyone say bad things to each other. It's a very nice little community. And I am not affiliated with Plesk, and what I mention here is based on daily experience. :) joethong 04-02-2002, 03:17 PM Plesk is not slow? Its crawling here, maybe I really do have a configuration problem here. Glad to hear that someone thinks that its fast, i'll check into that. Anyway Plesk really did a good job. And the forums in Plesk.com are really helpful just like rey said. Joe greggish 04-02-2002, 05:08 PM According to this roundup review, Plesk was the fastest and Ensim was the slowest... http://www.hostingtech.com/hs/01_11_panel.html Plesk "Server Administrator is PHP-based with a MySQL back-end, and is remarkably fast. In the load test, there was no discernable difference in performance during heavy CPU usage times. The speed and simplicity is why Plesk is perhaps the best selling of all the control panels." Cpanel/WHM "The extensive features included with Cpanel/WHM do come with a caveat. When a heavy load was placed on the server, both control panels slowed noticeably, almost to the point of being unusable. The control panels performed well when a normal load was simulated on the server." Ensim "WEBppliance was also the slowest of the three control panels tested. Under heavy load conditions on the server WEBppliance became completely unusable." rbro 04-02-2002, 08:01 PM Whatever you do avoid Sphera at all costs! That is far and above the buggiest Control Panel/Virtual Server software on the market! We're still in the process of trying to undo the damage done to our resellers, many of whom have now happily moved to CPanel. Ensim always seemd a little too pricey... |
