Why should I buy from a reseller at approx $10-15 when I can buy from major registrants such as GoDaddy, etc.?

I was wondering how resellers manage to make sales (unless they also run a hosting company, in this case many clients might opt to keep things simple and get both from the same co) if big players can charge so much less?
I know there are exceptions, such as Namecheap, but usually domains are over 10$ by resellers.

777,

If you have searched around WHT, you may have found many members offering eNom $7.95 Reseller accounts, which means after you put $100 in your balance you will be able to Resell the domain names to end-users. You may charge your customers any price you want (If you carry out research, you may determine the right segment you want to focus on), but the cost for each registration will be $7.95 for you (Depends on the TLD of course)

Resellers charge more, because they have to provide the Customers with the Support, which is of course additional expense. Sometimes people prefer to pay more to get decent support. In big companies like GoDaddy, Customer Support reply may take up to 24 hours, while with smaller Resellers you may get a response in 2 hours. That's just an example

So basically you're saying that support is the main reason for spending a few more dollars.
But you also say it's an example.

OK, thanks.

777,

I would say the most important would be Customer Support. Some people value the Online Interface as well. Also some Resellers add some additional features, examples would be bulk edit of domain names, free Whois Protection - like Namecheap offers, possibility to transfer the domain name to another account internally through the Registrar (It is especially useful while selling domain names)

OK, that's great!

Thank you very much for your help!

It's the proof, if needed that not everyone goes for the price (cheapest)

777,

Glad to help anytime.

Actually not everyone goes with the cheapest Registrar, when Customer Support and Security matters.

Network Solutions used to charge $35/year for domain name registration and if you check the statistics they are on the second place with around 6,5 million domain name registrations:

But the competition is getting tough and they have reduced the price at the moment, however it may be just a temporary promotion
