In looking at the startup costs for leasing a dedicated Windows 2000 server, I came up with the following so far:
Windows 2000 Server -- $0.00
IIS 5.0 -- $0.00
SimpleDNS -- $149.00
CesarFTP -- $0.00
Merak Mail -- $460.00
ASPEmail -- $0.00
Jmail -- $49.00
ASPUpload -- $149.00
PHP -- $0.00
ASP.net -- $0.00
MySQL -- $0.00
Total -- $807.00
This does not count the montly lease cost of the server itself and the o/s. Merak Mail seems to be the cheapest "good" mail server and SimpleDNS seems to work a lot easier than MSDNS. Any other absolute necessities you can think of?
