Pro is for workstation. if you going to use it for hosting, a lot of providers offer SPLA liscense that cost about $35 per month for Windows2003 Standard and $20 per month for Windows2003 Web kencash 07-24-2005, 05:01 AM I really want a win 2000 professional .....because non server work needed....but $35 per month where is the information...?any link for it? Joseph_M 07-24-2005, 01:03 PM $35 per month is the amount that you would have to pay your SPLA license supplier. You can normally rent them from your colocation/dedicated server provider, or alternatively the following companies offer SPLA Licenses: Hewlett Packard: hpslmshosting@hp.com Softchoice: spla@softchoice.com Software Spectrum (SSI): spprograms@softwarespectrum.com I have found Software Spectrum to offer the best quality of service. kencash 07-24-2005, 01:30 PM but I am in HK kencash 07-24-2005, 01:40 PM Originally posted by Joseph_M $35 per month is the amount that you would have to pay your SPLA license supplier. Actually,I want to buy lifetime license,I don't want the rent license....however,what will they give you when you purchase this service? Joseph_M 07-24-2005, 09:53 PM You can't buy a lifetime license for use in the internt service industry. You have to buy the license under the Service Provider License Agreement (SPLA) IF you are going to provide webhosting from that server. kencash 07-25-2005, 02:02 PM but they will give a license sticker or a license paper....?and I am Hong Kong person Joseph_M 07-28-2005, 05:38 PM No they won't give you any kind of sticker/paper, you will simply have an SPLA-valid code that you use in the install-process, then each month you report back to them how many machines the license is being used on, and they bill you for it. If you are going to use the machine for hosting, then this is how you MUST license your machines. Here's the licensing contact for you based on your location: Hewlett Packard: hpslmshosting@hp.com Software Spectrum: ssispla@softwarespectrum.com |
