Clayton, Missouri, April 1st /PRNEWSWIRE/ -- The competition in the dedicated server and colocation market just heated up significantly. Tim Greer, Mike Richards, and Allan Liska, all prominent members of Web Hosting Talk, have formed a new hosting company specializing in offering low cost dedicated and colocation hosting. The new company, Hosting AF, officially launches services today.

Tim Greer, the President and CEO of Hosting AF, is very excited about the new company, "We have been working behind the scenes for months getting things ready, and lining up a rather impressive list of customers."

Hosting AF has been so successful in taking pre-orders in part because of the impressive board of directors, most of whom have helped to fund the new company. Mike Richards, CTO of Hosting AF, thinks that the board of directors is one of the strong suits of Hosting AF, "When Lou Gerstner decided to retire from IBM to be Chairman of the Board for Hosting AF, I knew we had a hit. From there the big names kept rolling in, John Sidgemore and Vint Cerf, from WorldCom, Mark Andressen from Netscape, and of course Jon Postel. It is rare to find a new company with this caliber of a board of directors, but when you do, look out."

The board of directors is not the only feature of the new company that has attracted a swarm of new clients. An aggressive vendor strategy has given Hosting AF the ability to offer their services at a cost far below that of their competitors. Mike Richards adds, "Let's face it, when a company gets a call from Lou or John asking for a deal, that company gives them a deal. We were able to acquire bandwidth and servers at less than one third the cost most companies pay."

"Hosting AF uses the newest blade servers from IBM, these servers allow us to fit 184 dedicated servers into a single rack. In addition to a density that cannot be matched by any other hosting company, has a unique bandwidth strategy. According to Mike Richards, "Most companies put their equipment where carriers have terminated their fiber. Hosting AF has taken a different approach, we terminated the fiber where our servers were." Using the latest technology from Cisco, the Fully Optimized Optical Layer Splicing protocol, Hosting AF is able to splice directly into a carrier's fiber at a significant savings.

These cost savings measures allow Hosting AF to offer unprecedented pricing for dedicated servers: A Red Hat Linux or FreeBSD Server, with 500 Gigabits of transfer for $29.99 a month. Customers interested in a Windows 2000 Data Center Edition server will only pay $34.99 a month.

This type of aggressive pricing, and unbeatable industry contacts has already led to an impressive customer list. According to Allan Liska, Vice President of Sales, "Companies are hearing about our offerings, and they are excited. They want to sign up. We even had a customer who wanted to get into our new 40,102 square foot data center before it was completed. The quality of our network and our pricing has made us an instant force in the dedicated server and colocation market."

Some of the Hosting AF customers include, the Association of Private Realtors and Independent Lenders -- the largest group of independent real estate agents and mortgage lenders with 4,102 members, the Duke University Press Express - the largest vanity publishing house on the planet, and Motley Fool (NASD: FOOL), the worlds largest stock advice and tracking web site.

More information about Hosting AF can be found on the Hosting AF website, http://www.hostingaf.com/.

Nah, Brendan is just upset because he tried to get a job with us, but he got so nervous during the interview that he got sick on Jon Postel. It wasn't pretty, Brendan kept sending e-mails to our human resource's department begging for a second chance, but Jon would have none of it.

:D :D :D

No worries, we have 25 lawyers on staff. When the backbone carriers find out how we are getting our bandwidth, and when IBM notices the 12,415 blade servers missing from their warehouse, we expect a lot of lawsuits to follow :D.

My nightmare with Hosting FA begins. I tried to sign up with these frauds, but the web site is hopeless - broken links, and no order form.

So I emailed these criminals 5 MINUTES AGO - and still NO RESPONSE. If I do not hear back within the NEXT MINUTE - I am going to cancel my order and FLAME your BUTS on every hosting directory and forum on the net!

Stay away from Hosting AF!!!   ;)

Hahaha, that had me scratching my head for a good 10 minutes while I read it, thinking "WTF are they measuring bandwidth in gigabits for?!". I actually thought that was legit till the end (the pricing killed it hehe). Guess thats what i get for reading stuff on April 1st.

I would just like to say ::bop:: that our problems with ::bop:: sid have been ::bop:: resolved amicibly ::bop:: ::bop:: ::bop::.

We were not ::bop:: forced to tie him up ::bop::, shove him in a burlap bag ::bop:: ::bop:: and bop him repeatedly over the head.

I just wanted to make a quick post about Hosting AF for prospective customers. I have never used them before. I have never even heard of them until now. However I will say, "stay away from them". They are terrible! I mean the colors on the web site tells me my company is better. Now, I don't want to flame, but I think the owner was a past criminal. I can not prove this, but judging by his name, I would think it to be true. Also, *everyone* knows that the Chinese gov't has been paying hackers to crash users web sites who host with them.

Now, as I stated, I don't want to flame, but I think it is important to point these things out. I would never host anything over a 1 MB file with them, but that is just me.

Just my 2 cents.

I knew it was an April Fool when I saw this:

Tim Greer, the President and CEO of Hosting AF, is very excited about the new company, "We have been working behind the scenes for months getting things ready, and lining up a rather impressive list of customers."

If it was the real Tim Greer, he would have done something like this:

Tim Greer, the President and CEO of Hosting AF, is very excited about the new company, "We have been working behind the scenes for months getting things ready, and lining up a rather impressive list of customers. You know, it is very interesting how new companies are made. For this company, it involved much innovation. But is that innovation warranted? Well, only time will tell. You see, it's impossible to know just yet. How can you travel into the future and find out what will happen? That's currently impossible. It's not that likely to happen, so it probably will never become easy to time travel. I love my company. But is it really my company, or our company? That is an interesting question. In order to find out, we must[...]"
