View Full Version : demodemo and cerberus...needed?
Dan Sternberg 07-21-2005, 06:14 AM Thank you to the people who started and run this forum.
Also to the many people who post tens, or thousands of times.
Very educational and helpful.
I am new to reselling and do not have a technical background.
Also, I will be a one man operation targeting small businesses,
professionals, artists and musicians.
Are things like the demodemo flash tutorials and cerberus (which I need to learn more about) something I need? Any suggestions to work around these?
Also, what about 24/7 support to my clients via e-mail, or phone,
from my hosting provider? Does that usually work well?
(One local artist and my own sites are all I am looking at right now.)
Thank you,
Dan
swflnetworks 07-21-2005, 06:32 AM For the support portion, you'll have to ask your host. 99% of a chance, the answer will be no.
If you go to www.hostingzoom.com though, and order (they are fairly expensive), but they offer their resellers end-user support for their users so you have nothing to worry about.
For the demodemo things, I'm sure someone can get back with you on that one.
Have a great one!
Doug
ldcdc 07-21-2005, 12:50 PM (they are fairly expensive)In my mind they are fairly inexpensive, even more so considering they offer end user support. It just goes to show that cheap and expensive are very subjective things. :)
HostAqua 07-21-2005, 01:34 PM DemoDemo.com provides great Tutorials in flash, I would recommend it for your clients.
ldcdc 07-21-2005, 02:23 PM demodemo flash tutorialsIt is said that they can lead to a serious reduction in the number of support tickets. That said, only you can decide whether it is the right investment for your business at this point in time.
Having used both products for a good two years, I can answer this with a great degree of certainty:
Cerberus helpdesk:
The best helpdesk / email management system available today. For almost three years we danced around a good 10-15 other helpdesk solutions. Cerberus, for the last two years, has satisfied our every need, and is both highly stable, and very dynamic.
DemoDemo tutorials:
The leader in their field. Our users love them, and we know, from traffic tracking, that they work. I'd estimate they save us a good $10-$12k per year (with ease). You are guaranteed to reduce your support costs if you get some DemoDemo tutorials. I am one of their biggest admirers.

I know I didn't when I first started out.. I was paying $20 a month for 2 GB, which is outrageous now :P
Dan Sternberg 07-22-2005, 08:54 AM Thanks for the input.
Regarding "expensive", or not, I wish I could recall the exact quote, but it goes something like:
"The memory of savings is forgotten very soon after the pain of poor quality."

jmweb 07-22-2005, 07:26 PM or, "you get what you pay for".
Egnited 07-23-2005, 03:22 AM I recently found a very reasonable flash demo's website, $20 or so for an entire set.
www.cheapdemos.com
May not be as fancy as DemoDemo, but it get's the job done.
Dan Sternberg 07-23-2005, 05:17 AM Thanks all. I'll check CheapDemos as well.
Yash-JH 07-23-2005, 10:02 AM I agree Cerberus is the best in its category. It is very scalable, efficient and reliable. We answer just under 100 tickets/day with ease using Cerberus..
I have found other tickets systems can be cumbersome with large ticket volumes.
