Can anyone tell me why when some host providers company names are mentioned here they get turned into asterix's

for example: ***********

That is the name of a reseller web hosting provider I came across and mentioned in a post just to say that they used Ensim, and thier name turned to asterix's (as it has above)...why?

Meens they have been really bad on this forum and they are now ****** out to keep them from advertising or anything else.

We don't like to censor names, we'd rather members know the true story about some companies behaviour, but sometimes it is necessary as they continue to abuse the forum despite repeated removals of their posts and/or warnings.

We sometimes get little 13 year old kids, spamming the board from multiple accounts, using various parked URLs etc.. all to self-promote their "unlimited" web hosting operation. Once we censor their URLs they often go away and spam somewhere else like USENET or something.

Of course, we occassionally get "big" companies spamming the forums too because of the pressure on their sales team, just as bad really.

I can't comment on the particular name censored above as I don't know what company you're referring too?

Until someone removes it.

Until someone removes it.

A moderator or the poster???

I think a moderator removes the ***s after 60 days if the company has been good.
