- what connection speed do you have?
- how much $$$ do you plan to put in your network?
- are you going to host there ded. servers or just hosting?
- tell us more about :)

More than likely you won't need a router in a colo area. The colo provider will probably just run a cat 5 drop to your rack/racks.

At the bare minimum you will need a switch, which switch you use will depend on how much bandwidth you intend to push, and how many servers you have. A Cisco 2924 Enterprise, Extreme Summit 24, or a Foundry FastIron Workgroup are good starter switches for a data center environment.

I would also recommend checking with your provider to find out what type of security options they offer. If there is no firewall in place, I would recommend looking at either Netscreen or PIX firewall to put in your rack as well.

Yes, sadly i will need a router i have 2 cisco 6500 , i will have 2 1 gig connection. After the cisco catalist i will have cisco routers and then firewalls for users/clients who needs it.

Thanks for the help. :)

whoa. Are you aware that the 6500s have RP cards? Why would you need to use Cat6500s and Routers within the same network?

Plug the gig handoffs into the RPs on the cats, and then direct traffic to the various switched ports. You'll save yourself a whole passel of money, and your network will be a lot more streamlined.
