If you don't know how to do it then perhaps you should think about doing something you do know about ?

Learn server management
Learn accounting skills
Learn marketing
Make a business plan
Work 18 hours per day 7 days per week

Glad this is not a brain surgery forum ;)

Actually server management can be taken lightly if you have a 3rd party admimistration company or, the company you purchase from offers full management.

elix is right as well, although it would do you some good to have some type of general knowledge of how to navigate on the server and perform basic tasks.

I personally think business plan's are an optional thing, not really something that is required, although it's good to have one. I say, just go with the flow, as with hosting companies, your plans can change so dramatically very quickly.

Not sure I agree with you there ;) I keep in mind that old saying, "fail to plan is to plan to fail". Business plans can be as complex or simple as you like, but the one thing planning does is focus attention on what needs to be done, how it needs to be done, in order to achieve what you want. Winging it as a reseller is not a good idea - it is a business, even if it is just a part-time hobby operation, and there are legal obligations when you enter into a contract to provide services.

A business plan is just that - a plan. Change is part of the nature of the business and a good plan includes how to manage change.

Of all the things a budding reseller should do, I feel the very first step is to plan. The questions of "what do I do" and "how do I support/pay/grow it" should all be addressed at the planning stage, not after you are up and running and have customers dependent upon you knowing what you are doing.

Suppose it can also depend on who you're selling to and the type of market you want to attract.

Are you just doing web hosting or are you say, a web developer who needs a 'reseller platform' to host the various sites you design?

Either way, it depends on what your customers needs and wants that boil down to how you respond in managing it.

Steve.

Just make sure that you offer quality and are always available to your clients. That's what they're paying you for... dependability.

I would love to learn how to navigate on the server and perform basic tasks. Does the reseller guide tell how to do that? I did read some part of it but it didn't tell me how to perform basic tasks on the server.
Links to learn that...please?
