View Full Version : Free cc procesing?
pattox 03-31-2002, 01:13 AM Hi i need a free credit card proccesing program, like 2checkout.com except for free, its ok that they take some % out of my sales as long as there isnt a setup fee or anything like that, even if they are not very good please list them all here.
TopDog07 03-31-2002, 02:25 AM I have yet to discover a free service such as that other then PayPal which, I dislike personaly. Yet, there is many who use it.
I am with 2Checkout.com, even though it has a $49 setup fee I do believe they offer a money back garuntee.
21inchguns 03-31-2002, 08:57 AM I also have never seen a free one.......and 2checkout is about as cheap as it gets..........if there was a free one......it probably wouldnt be worth using.............with things like CC processing you dont want to use dodgy operators.........
volumehost 03-31-2002, 09:02 AM you could try www.propay.com there is a $35 setup fee
i havent seen anything better than that
p1net 03-31-2002, 10:21 AM There are so called free CC processors available but I would not even go near them. I strongly advise paying a setup fee for a more trusted service as the so called free ones often take betweem 20% - 30% of the transaction so in the long term it is a lot better to pay the setup fee!! ;) ;)
Santoman 04-01-2002, 07:10 PM Hi !
I believe worldpay has no setup costs.
They are www.worldpay.com
Not 100% sure, but, I'm at least 97% sure.
I signed up with them, but ended up going with 2checkout instead.

zuby84 04-02-2002, 08:47 AM I think HostCharge have introduced a solution where there are no set up fees...
Dedicated 04-02-2002, 09:26 AM worldpay charge $200 setup fee.
Akash 04-02-2002, 11:49 AM FYI, the last "free" processor was instabill and they shut down in a hurry. Do a search here for more info on them...
Also, in the current market conditions, free like we used to know it just doesn't exist anymore. ie, I could offer you a free account (if I offered CC processing service) but I would have to take out 10% or more from the sale, where as my competitors would take out about 5% of the sale....In other words: pay the setup fee and go for the low transaction fees, it'll balance out in the end...
web_res 04-02-2002, 03:18 PM Anyone here with personal experience with hostcharge or propay?

I guess youre rite,I was just looking for sumthing free as an alternative to paypal,my company is small and if i used a free proccesor now,i could always switch to a paid one (eg:2checkout.com later, when i had more revenue
Akash 04-04-2002, 03:04 AM like i said before, I find it the easiest to start with the one you'll be using for a long time; that way you wont' have to transfer your customers over to a new billing system.
And again, with the "paid" processors, the transaction fee is much lower...
TimPD 04-04-2002, 03:30 AM You're not likely to find a FREE processor. Some will have a $99 annaul fee and statement fee etc depends who you use PayPal is one that takes out a % and doesn't charge a setup.

As i said i dont care if they take a % out but i cant afford to provide a setup fee at the moment.
Kblitz 04-04-2002, 06:04 AM Hostcharge.com has a novice plan which is free setup but they take a high % 6-7% I think
I think I got a good deal, I paid about $400 up front and my payment gateway charges 0.8% on transactions. Unfortunately they're sorta tied to my bank and not really applicable in this case, so I guess my post doesn't help you much
