I'm so proud of myself... I finally finished this model for a project I'm working on, adn I thought I'd share it with WHT visitors/ members. :D
I still gotta do some texturing, but the main modeling is done. It was made it in Rhino.
Enjoy...

It was made it in Rhino.
Although I'm sure any 3d modelling program would work just as well.

Thanks, hypernatic.net & diederik... It was made in rhino, Here (http://www.rhino3d.com).
I knew somebody was gonna come in here and do this... no names *cough*CRego3D*cough* :D At least you didnt come in talking about Lightwave :)
I borrowed the demo of of softimage from a friends and hated it. Rhino was the only modeler I found where I didnt need to learn a difficult interface (I have no *real* 3d experience) and was able to make something the first time running it. Here is the software I've tried recently, I have also included how they were to me.
Truespace (http://www.caligari.com) - Hated it... Very unstable.
Amapi/Carrara (http://www.eovia.com) - Good for organics, very under rated...
Softimage XSI (http://www.softimage.com) - I got lost in it.
Maya (http://www.aliaswavefront.com) - the gui looks and feels cheap.
LightWave (http://www.newtek.com) - I got lost in this one too.
plus others.... I dont feel like listing on here, otherwise I'll be typing all day ;)
Any program would be able to do this, but rhino is the only program that doesnt kick my butt around the room. Hence the reason why I got rhino, for Xmas :D I'm just some hobbiest with limited funds and expierence, so I'm not worried about getting the big-boys stuff..... Yet.
When I was renaming the materials, I noticed there was a missing plane, and I had to tear it apart and fix it.... *sigh* Its fixed now :)

I don't think you can be off topic in this forum.
It looks neat. Especially if it's your first big model.
You'll have to show us some final renders when you're done. :)

Thanks guys/girls/whatever. ;)
I've made only a few others, but this one is higher quality than the others I've made.
I made it for a series called "Render Wars" at renderosity, so I'm making this gun specifically for my faction in this series. I would post my war declaration image here, but its a little graphic ;)
I'll post a final render of it with its intended user after I get all the little stuff worked out. *sigh* I gotta open the file in notepad and rename all the materials, but the file is only 650K uncompressed.
After I'm done with it would anyone like to download a copy of the model? I have a 3d Studio (3ds) version and soon will have a wavefront object version (obj).
