I have noticed that some of the domains hosting companies are not using their actual domain name for the name server; example www.Aletia.com is using ns1.Aletiahosting.com as their name servers!
Why is it? And what is the benefit by using a different domain name for your name servers?

There is no real benefit or advantage. Some companies use their company name for branding ..others use anonymous nameservers for themselves and their clients :)

I have a different opinion:
If you are a reseller and you have DNS administered outside (like zoneedit.com (http://zoneedit.com) you can change providers almost instantly by changing IP pointing. Also you can use failover services and backup email.
Good luck ;)

I don't see your point here.
Yes, doing DNS yourself has some positive sides. But how does that have anything to do with the original question?
You _can_ run your own DNS (or use zoneedit.com or whatever) while doing that on your ns1.yourdomain.com. There is no need for the dns servers names to be on another domain for that to work.

Some use different nameservers for their resellers' sake. Resellers can use the anonymous nameservers if they do not want to register their own. Also, the resellers do not have to start answering questions like "Why does Perfecthost show up in the shared ssl?"

I was planning on using the following method:
Register my anon dns domain name, and point it at 2 seperate DNS providors. This gives a nice bit of stability to the domainname.
Those in turn point at my two nameservers from which I manage my dns from myself.
This should allow me to locate one of the servers elsewhere at some point, to expand the reliability of the service.
