Hey,
I'm working on a new site ( bmxweb.tk ) and the script I want to use for the board requires a MySql database. My host dosnt offer MySql, only php. But my dad's host offers MySql. I dont want to host the board on his site, so is it possible for me to have the scripts on my site, and the dbase on his?

Well, I'm not exactly sure if all hosts support this but with mine for my database server I can put in either Localhost (If I'm hosting it on that server) or I can put in zuulnetworks.com as my database server if I'm hosting it somewhere else.

yes, it's possible ... although your dad's host may have problem offering remote mysql (for security reason). But even if they do offer remote mysql, you will need to consider the amount of bandwith transfer between the mysql and the web servers. On busy site, this transfer is actually a lot. I have once setup remote mysql and it pushed around 0.5Mbps average (160GB) of transfer (peak to around 1.5Mbps) between the two servers.
Anyway ... why don't you find other hosts (a lot of them) that offer both php and mysql?
cheers,

Because I'm 13 and can't afford a new one. I'll just host it on my dad's site, and use up his bandwith ;)

like dektong said... it can be done.. but it all depends on wether your dads host will let you connect to mysql remotely... you would be better off getting a free host that offers mysql and php...

point me to a GOOD, free host that offers both of those, at least 100 mb of space, and a decent amount of bandwith and I'll do that. Is it possible, if I host it on his server, to 'mirror' it so it looks like it is on my site? No iframes or anything like that.

If your site is hosted on the same server as your Dad's then you can create a database on your Dad's account and use it. (host: localhost, Username: As created in your Dad's account, Password)
