I know there has been some debate about building a rack webserver and about AMD relibility issues in webhosting.

These guys have an article on how to build a rack server which is pretty well documented. It explains the basics, things to consider, requirements, RAID, etc. The performance difference between an Athlon and Pentium III is also revealed. Is obvious that a 2100+/DDR is killing any PIII. Well, read for yourself, there are lot of pictures too.

The full story is here. (http://www.pchardware.ro/Reviews/review.php?id=162)

Too bad it's not about a 1U :) There is something I find strage, we can't find a benchmark for Linux servers???

I was also interested in this...

My question is why dosent anyone look into the Athlon MP processor, that is their network/server chipset.

As well as using Dual Athlon XP/MP configurations with the new dual MSI & Asus mother board?

As far as I have understood an article about a 2U server with MSI an Dual Athlon MP will be published in about two weeks on the same site.

For nothing. I just think it's an interesting article. I have seen a lot of articles of this kind on the net, but that's the most informative I was able to find.
