Hello,
What kind of content should be placed on the frontpage of a web hosting company's website.
The most important information that a visitor would be looking for when they visit.
We are thinking of revising the frontpage to make it more user-friendly. Would like to know the opinions of other web hosts and users.
Looking forward to some decent detailed replies :)

For content, I would love to see your plans, they don't stand out all to well. If you're going to put them on the front page at all, you should make them more attractive/attention grabbing. I feel the design is to compact.
I realise this may seem unrelated due to the nature - You asked for content I'm giving you design comments, but your design seems too ... 'small'. I'm not here to offend, discredit the author(or authors? I'm unsure) or anything like that.
I have less than 20/20 eye sight, so it forces me to increase the font size, which is fine, I have no problem with that. What would force me to then leave, rather than stay and view your services, is the fact your design isn't flexible to cater for my client-side change.
The design its self is quite nice, I just feel it's poorly engineered from a client-side stand point. Text in images is not a good idea, especially when served so small.
I don't think there's much wrong with the content itself, however updating, changing the layout itself (not the design) about may help, and keep things fresh.
Another 'problem' may be the fact it looks like 70 other web hosts out there. Now, I know this isn't a template, I know this website isn't on any other domain space (As far as I'm aware), but the style ... It's a dime a dozen. I can't blame you or anyone else for liking it, hell it's a nice style to use, but I don't feel it's unique enough either to define your company.
I have put together a screenshot for you with small problematic areas - http://www.imgload.com/uploads/81741b5595.gif
I hope this helps, if not I apologise for straying to far off topic.
Edit: Just noticed a small mistake in my image, in the top comment, "preiod" is supposed to read "period" :)

Pauly,
That is a fantastic review! We are just looking to make updates to make our website user-friendly for everyone (apparently that is not possible unless we use all text.)
A more attractive frontpage is in the works as I write this, and we will update our frontpage very soon.
It will have a better view of our services. Allow the user to increase text without it disappearing from the website, etc.
Keep the suggestions coming :)
What sort of information do you like to see on a web host's frontpage to get your attention?

If you take a look at ******'s front page, you will notice that every new day, they have a new special offer that really attracts the users. Maybe you can do something similar and/or place your featured package, etc..
Hope this helps

I'm glad this didn't knock you back, you take criticism well! It is possible, you just have to bare in mind what you want users to be able to read, and what not. when using graphic text, ask your developer to make it a little larger maybe?
Hope all goes well!
