New here. Like it so far :-)

I need a new host of 2GNT.com. We are currently on hosting4less's "high-volume" plan, which basically means they will let our processes run for 30 seconds or use 30 megs of RAM before they will kill them. Our site makes use of DCScript's perl-based forum, and ours is quite large. We are currently using about 400 meg of disk space and roughly 25gig of bandwidth a month.

The proplem arises from the fact that is any process uses more than 30meg of system memory, it is automatically killed. This is making it damn near impossible and incredibly furstrating to perform board updates and maintenance because half the time they kill our administration script. I'm tired of it, and tired of them. Who do you recommend in the $50 a month range, that offers about 500 meg space and 30g transfer, that isn't such a stickler about processing time and memory usage?

I would highly reccommend switching to Vbulletin and then looking for a host that would suit your needs then. You should be able to find a good host for around $30/mo

Pardon.

I am expecting emails, not replies. I am looking for suggestions, not solicitations, unless they are emailed.

vBulletin is out of the question. It does not suit our needs currently. (and i just don't like it.)

Maybe not vbulletin, but some sort of PHP/mysql based forum, to decrease the load on the servers....

For $50/mo. maybe a VPS is more up his alley (due to the need for memory allocation for the site, etc.). I think Greg was suggesting other forum software, as you'd be able to maintain your account as is. if you don't want to switch to somkething else, then you may need a different set up (you may have simply outgrown shared hosting at this point).
