I have found one free control panel which even has resellers support and everything but I was just wondering if ya know any others free control panels for UNIX? Thanks

I suppose that would depend on what the name of the one you've found is :)

same one I was thinking of I'm afraid. There's a few that crop up every now and then as 'in development' but after a year or so of hearing about them I've never seen an actual screenshot of any of them.

Considering the nature of the script, I'd go for something that costs a bit of money myself. Developers tend to keep improving them when there's money involved. :) In the greater scheme of things, control panels don't cost that much

Ah! I personally won't do a better job if I'm paid for it. webcp is developped for a company and graciously donated to all. Does that mean it's worth less than an expensive ensim panel?

Sorry Felix, I should have appended that statement by saying I didn't mean to include yourself there... was refering more to the vaporware ones we never hear of again...

Nice save! Now go eat something that will remove that shoe leather taste from your mouth. :)

thanks Marty :D

Felix just has too cool a name to say anything against, even if he wasn't such a nice guy.

I've looked at a lot of control panels and yours has a lot more potential than some of the 'commercial' ones. If it worked on a RAQ4 it would be perfect:D

Cobalt RaQ's come with a good control panel. Maybe not the best in the world but its still a control panel. I dont understand why anybody would want to change it.

It's more a matter of expanding it, rather than changing it. The control panel doesn't give 'easy' access to features available on a RAQ, such as cronjobs etc.

While webcp is certainly coming along, I definetly wouldn't host on it until this message is gone :) Please note that THIS IS NOT A PRODUCTION VERSION

Very true.
But it is nice to see somebody working on an affordable solution.

Although not free, these are not as costly as other big brand names:

RaQ CP (http://www.omair-haroon.com/) - Reseller Raq control panel ($200)
Shadm (http://shadm.hostmentor.com/) - Auto Setup of accounts. ($145)

Shadm looks very very nice, but has anybody got any experience of using it?

Yep, I have. And it does seem to work, although I haven't got it running with all the features (yet). The great thing is that he lets you download the code *before* paying for it so you can be sure that it does what it says on the tin before paying your cash :) Even if you don't need it for real-time account setups, it's great for easy personal admin, say you just want to set up another domain on your raq, this thing makes it real easy!

I'll investigate it as soon as I get a chance. I already forked out for PhpManager, so I might stick with that for the moment.

that's the great thing about having a handy knowledge of php. I plan to modify most of SHAdm to add more functions e.g. emailing all clients, custom templates, invoicing, renew notification, reseller extentions and *anything* else I want :D . I'll probably exchange them for other people's mods if anyone is looking for them too, or just give them out free in the spirit of the free internet, we'll have to wait and see.
