I was thinking about getting into domain reselling. My question is, is this still a profitable market? I was under the impression that the market is somewhat saturated and it is tough to turn a profit. I am not afraid of doing some work, I just was wondering what other people had to say about this. Another thing, what are some programs that come recommended by people. Enom appears to be one of the better ones from what I have heard. Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!

It is tough , lots of small dollars and ocassionally big , I have turned 5 domains this year I acquired for $6.95 for Mid $$$$, Turned lots for $50 etc. You just got to stay on top of the competition

depends on your market, local have a chance but international there is alot of big loss leaders which you can't compete with...

It is a very crowded market, unless you are going to sell additional products to supplement your business expect to make very little money

Yeah, I figured if you could create "package" deals with hosting or designing or all, you could make a little cash.

It looks to me that graphical_force and eventbroker are talking about 2 different things.

any money in just selling domain names - no not really, ts too easy a market to get into, so people tried to compete by cutting margins rather than offering better service. then along came those prepared to make a loss on every transaction just to gain a customer email address to sell them something else - like ev1, yahoo, 1&1 etc
eventbroker is talkingabout hte market in registeringa ndthen selling on domains - i.e. brokering/trading in teh 2nd user market - yes there is money to be had from a domain portfoilio if you're prepared to work at it.
offer the domain with the hosting (register it in their name not yours) or as part of a package deal, but you wont make much if anything just selling domains

Yes we were. I was talking about domain name investing versus reselling. Reselling is a tough game only to make $2.00 you gotta move a ton of them to make it worth your time.

2.00? Suprisingly many companies make .25, .50 each. WIth those kind of margins it is very hard to make money

Thats because people allow themselves to believe they have to discount down below cost to sell - terrible business philosophy.
I disagree with Rob and would say there is money to be made selling domains if you stay away from the bucket shop sales and concentrate of offering a premium service.
Make $2 a domain? - jeeze man I wont answer the phone for that :)
On the other hand if you want to kid yourself you can compete in the 25c a domain league then no there is not a hope in hell of you being profitable without additional services.

I have to agree that there's no way to compete with the low end market. A better strategy is to focus on a narrower, niche clientele. To be honest, I too won't even render e-mail support for such a thin profit margin as a few dollars per MONTH.
