View Full Version : Godaddy showing Parked page for more than 3days now!!!
JohnnyMartins 07-08-2005, 11:59 AM Hello,
Just that you all know, I had my domain resolving to nameservers other than godaddy's!
But then I decided to use godaddy's forwarding service, so I changed name servers to park11.secureserver.net and park12.secureserver.net as required!
After their nameservers propagate, about 12 to 16 hours later, my domain ( a .ws domain) was already showing their parked page!
After 24hours from setting up nameservers it was still showing their parked page full of ads! :( So I called them, and they told me that it was already doing forwarding on their end, and that it would need more time to propagate. :( looked to me like a lie!
So I tryed to access my domain trough megaproxy.com and also showed godaddy's parked page!!! Now I was almost sure they lied to me!
Now more than 3 days have passed and still shows godaddy's parked page even using megaproxy!
Now I'm sure they lied to me!!!!
Any comments on this???
Thank you,
Johnny
tiggee 07-08-2005, 12:19 PM Trying moving your name servers away from godaddy and then back. It might need a refresh.
But also make sure that you are using the correct name servers (they should automatically assign them for you).
JohnnyMartins 07-10-2005, 07:37 AM Almost 5 days now!!! This is not acceptable
It should be illegal to impose advertising like this!
Bashar 07-10-2005, 09:04 AM lookup the domain at www.dnsreport.com or www.dnsstuff.com and see if it points correctly or not?
make sure it pointed to their nameservers.
nameslave 07-10-2005, 09:38 AM But why would you use their forwarding in the first place? It doesn't cost anything extra to do that on any server.
Acroplex 07-10-2005, 10:50 AM Your PC is caching the old status.
Open a DOS box and enter:
ipconfig /flushdns
Reboot to ensure deletion of cached files.
GCNet 07-10-2005, 10:53 AM Make sure your nameservers are pointed to the right one again.
Maybe you need to delete cookies and cache on your browser aswell.
tytusonline 07-10-2005, 11:20 AM i have the same exprerience with it...Well to solves this problem you will need to clear your cookies and cache....i got the parked page for 1 week...
coz i didnt know that i need to clear the cache after transfering my nameserver and waits for 3 days...
And now its ok ...try clearing it up
RossH 07-10-2005, 12:06 PM We can not fix this for you although I'm sure you have probably found the problem by now, next time submit a support ticket to godaddy.

i get godaddy's coming soon! page
easternBrain 07-10-2005, 01:21 PM clearing the cache and cookies will do it.. :)
Disgruntled 07-10-2005, 02:14 PM I just visited joaomartins.ws for the very first time. It showed me the parked page. I think that contradicts the cache and cookies theory.
Could it be a problem with the hosting service? If that is so the whois should show the nameserver entries. If they're displayed as entered, that would suggest that the hosting service is the place to contact for help.
http://www.whois.sc doesn't give me any data.
Networksolutions whois:
We are unable to process your request at this time. Please try again later.
Godaddy's whois tells me:
Lookup failed; please try again.
That points to the problem being with Godaddy. If Godaddy's own whois doesn't show the data, the rest of the internet can't be at fault for the data they're not providing failing to propagate. So all I can think of is that it is necessary to hammer on Godaddy support to get them to fix it. If they don't provide a satisfactory answer but quick, then just tell them that while you're waiting for nothing to happen, you might as well send your complaint to ICANN and to the Phoenix area BBB. Then send those complaints.
Traceroute on joaomartins.ws shows DNS of 64.202.167.192 registered to Go Daddy Software, Inc. That is no surprise, as it's consistent with the parking page that is displayed.
Disgruntled 07-10-2005, 02:43 PM BTW, since the question has been asked elsewhere, as long as that parking page is up, are you able to customize the text, graphics, and colors?
tytusonline 07-10-2005, 02:52 PM Well i dont think you could customised the text or colour as i was inthis kind of situation for 1 week....well JohnnyMartins ...did you get over with it ??? let us know if the outcome...
Disgruntled 07-10-2005, 03:34 PM As pointed out by samuelG at
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=422587
the parking page that is currently being displayed at http://www.joaomartins.ws seems to be what is touted by Godaddy as a wonderful free service for when you have a domain registered, but have not yet provided other instructions like forwarding or nameservers to actually do something with the domain. Since JohnnyMartins says he did submit instructions for this to do something else, there appears to be some kind of dysfunction. Nevertheless, if this is the same thing as touted at:
https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/domain_offer.asp?se=%2B&ci=183:
then there are supposed to user options to customize it. I don't know the pathway for actually doing that.
JohnnyMartins, I haven't tried actually forwarding a Godaddy domain, but it looks like the pathway to set forwarding is:
My Account
Domain Names
Manage Domains
Forward Domains
The domain has to be unlocked first to be able to enter these instructions.
Have you tried that? If you have entered the forwarding instructions using this pathway, do you see the desired webpage displayed when you go through the pathway:
My Account
Domain Names
Manage Domains
Manage Domain Forwarding
Disgruntled 07-10-2005, 03:46 PM I think I found the pathway for tinkering with the parked webpage:
My Account
Web Sites
Starter and "For Sale" Webpages
Setup Starter Webpage
In my case it tells me "You have no domains available for your parked pages", so that's as far as I can take that experiment.
JohnnyMartins 07-10-2005, 05:40 PM Thank you for all the answers.
I have done all like godaddy says to do!
Even called godaddy 24 hours after setting name servers and forwarding!
And they explicity said to me that the forwarding was already resolving on their end!
Anyway, I'm done with godaddy, transfered all my other domains away and will discard this one! Only more 2 months until renewing...
I really don't trust godaddy's support! They are nice and treat you right, but won't solve your problem! Unless it's a very simple and strait away problem!
Once again thank you for all the answers :)
Disgruntled 07-10-2005, 07:08 PM In a way it looks kind of similar to problems I had with my former host Registerfly. Their equipment would tell them things were working fine while the rest of the world found the domain inaccessible.
You might give Namecheap a try. I have two domains with them that forward to my Godaddy-registered .com page. I think that they were forwarding nicely within an hour of setting them to do that. As with anything else, individual results could vary for no known reason.
Kerry Jones 07-10-2005, 09:56 PM what do you have your name server setup?
example:
NS1.YOURHOST.COM
NS2.YOURHOST.COM
