Well...are they?
![]() | View Full Version : Dotster.com, any good? Chysical 03-28-2002, 10:45 PM Well...are they? The Thinker 03-28-2002, 11:20 PM We have been using them for over two years now and have over 2500 domains registered with them (well, 2500 includes ours and our clients who have purchased through us...) We have never had a problem at all. A couple of hundred times we were transferring domains to them to be the registrar and there were no problems. A few hundred times we were also tranferring domains away from them to another registrar (on behalf of some clients who were moving their services). Never a problem... Anytime we have sent an e-mail to their support center, we have received a complete and accurate response within the 24 hours they promise. A couple of times they even called us on the phone to help us out. All in all, I would recommend them 100%! :D PS - I don't work for Dotster! LOL!!! ;) Chysical 03-28-2002, 11:29 PM Wow! Sounds good. Any others? rence 03-28-2002, 11:48 PM I don't work for Dotster or eNom either one. But I prefer eNom over Dotster. Now the advantage of Dotster is that you can private label it, charge your customers over the cost, and get a check from Dotster. But I just thought their pages were way too slow. We hadn't been using it that long, and a potential customer got so frustrated with it that he gave up on registering his domain. Maybe that was rare, but I don't know because we didn't use that long before we got hooked up with eNom through RegistryDomains. I wasn't big on Dotster's transfer system either. You send a transfer through, and then you just pray it goes through. eNom has a place where you can check on the status of your transfers. Now, to be fair, even though I prefer eNom, the one disadvantage of eNom is you have to refill the balance at a minimum of $100. So you can weigh this out. rence 03-29-2002, 12:03 AM Oops. I hit the back button, and it posted twice. Mods, you can delete this extra post. worlddan 03-29-2002, 08:30 PM Please see my response to the other dotster question. They are terrible. avoid at all costs, IMHO. Daniel terrastudios 03-30-2002, 11:11 PM We just transfered one of our customers domains from one registrar to dotster (by request of our customer), and Dotster handled everything for us, the transfer took about 60 hours, a refreshing change, thumbs up to DotSter! David@Digisurge 03-31-2002, 01:01 AM I have 1 or 2 domains registered with Dotster. I have not had any problems with them. They have not been outstanding either. I still prefer to use an OpenSRS reseller. |
