Well age is all relative. (to a certain point of course ;)

If you have the knowledge and also know how to apply it... then heck! Use it to get you where you want to go.

However, the key to being young and successful is ....knowing how to apply your knowledge......just knowing something does not get you to point "B".

Well....enough rambling. :cartman:

Age shouldn't matter as long as the company is reliable and has good support and they focus on there job 100% and not just a part time job....

If he is 19 and has a business as nice looking as that, then I am sooooooo envious. I wish I was 19 again!!:D

There was a big debate about this about a year ago on this forum involving donhost.

The main sticking point is that he blantantly said he was in his early 20's

I agree age doesnt matter, but the truth does

I'm only 20 and I own a rather large datacenter....does age count against me?

Yeesh, let's not start that age-ism thing around here...... You need to do a search on the board for donhost, i can't imagine why anyone would envy him, his hosting company's name is a joke, it's supposed to be terrible, and i don't think he really could be THAT fat... :D

Myles Loosley-Millman (?! - a real name?)

Think it's rather more intelligent to point out that his company is not a joke, rather it has been dragged through the mud by:

1) Those who couldnt follow an AUP if it slapped them in the face, then wonder why their accounts are being closed!

2) Competitors, who see Donhost as a VERY serious threat, and so go out of their way (at least on WHT) to rubbish Daniel

Facts:

- A control panel to die for .... i have been a reseller with companies such as ukfast.net , Fasthosts, MCHost etc and this kicks ass compared to other offerings

- Still, even with data transfer dropped to 20gb/month, a very competitive plan for the monthly price

- Customer service is improving

- Network is improving and growing (now a RIPE member)

*I am not affiliated in any way with Donhost apart from being a reseller (for over a year)...i also use MChost for overseas*

Damn, this is becoming quite the pet peeve for me, but sco44 can you please accept that people HAVE actually had genuine complaints about Donhost? I think it's very insulting to suggest that ALL negative comments can be placed in either of those two subsets. Lets just accept that for some they've had problems, for you they've been great, the end. It is not in any way "rather more intelligent" to dismiss every negative comment so flippantly.

</rant>ANYWAY back on topic.. He certainly must be doing quite well for himself at that young age. I wonder where his initial funding came from? I am certainly envious of the growth and the $$$ signs, if not so much the business model itself.

Last time i checked my name was a real name, is there something wrong with my name that noones told me of yet?

I think the reason i remember seeing DonHost dragged through the mud around here was 1. wrongfull account closing, and 2. Killing accounts that used up too many resources (if people got near their 20gb limit), etc. but thats just what i've heard. Potential donhost supporters/customers should really do a search on the board for themselves, i just know donhost is virutall a acronym for "crap" around here, like a few other names.

Errrrrr??
And your point?
Always funny when you see one host knock another host, personally, I think posts like this should be deleted due to a conflict of interest.

Are you for real mate? You're signing off on a post like this, amongst your industry peers, about another host? One that not many providers here could rate against?

Every time you and yours try to drag Donhost through the mud, you're getting refuted with glowing objections (sustainable ones...not speculation such as your post above) to your claims. Why bother wasting your time?

Maybe you need to go through my post history, and indicate to us all where i've tried to drag Donhost through the mud before, because i'd be more then interested in see'ing what the midnight gremlin in my keyboard has been typing that i haven't seen. Needless to say, I've never constructed a post to donhost before, in any way shape or form, im just stating what i hear. Whenever i hear people talking about a bad experience, i hear "lightone" "donhost" "*****" etc. come into play sooner or later, as a measuring stick for crap. Maybe you need to do what my original post indicated, and search the forum for donhost.

Anyhow, go search the forum for donhost, count the number of bad posts/subjects/threads relating to them, then the good ones, from what i've been reading over the last few months, theres more bad then there should be on a reasonable company. Now go search my previous posts, and indicate where you're drawing the conclusion that i make regular attempts to drag donhost through the mud, please, by all means.

BTW, im not a webhost, and i also don't see any glowing objections, except yours, probably because what i said was the truth, nothing more, nothing less, do a search, find a bad reputation, end of story.

This is a post from Donhost themselves from last year on this very forum

Who is telling the truth?

I am in my early 20's. I did not start Donhost when I was 14 although I would probably be sunning myself on my own private island by now if I had so I wish I had.

However, I believe young enterprise should be encouraged not put it down like you are doing here. Remember that some of the World's largest global carriers were founded by minors.

Um, like myles, I was also under the impression from the posts that I read here that donhost was a lousy hosting service.

I don't know how many negative posts I've seen that said "just another donhost reseller".

If it's fud, it's done its job well.

As i see it, in any computer related field age is no big thing.

The younger generations had computers in high school, junior high school, and even in elementry school (considering if you are not over 24). Therefore most of the younger guys have a great deal of knowledge without attending college for computer related skills.
