Hi all,
I was wondering if someone here could enlighten me or direct me to some FAQ page. What does it mean to "bump a message"? I saw a thread elsewhere in the forum got locked because of this so I'm guessing it's not allowed, but what is bumping? I couldn't find this in the rules or the FAQ anywhere...
Sorry for the brainless newbie question...I'm new! :)
TIA,
ryu
Actually, there isn't anything in the official rules (http://www.webhostlink.com/index.php?action=forum-rules) regarding bumping, but overall on the Net it is considered pretty bad etiquette to 'bump' your post up, particularly in situations where it favors the original poster (as it did in mybiz/Adam's case).
(in case you're wondering, access to the forum rules can be found through the front page, under 'General Web Hosting' and the 'Ded/Co-lo' forum descriptions...)
What bumping is, is simply posting again to return your thread to the top of the forum so that (theoretically) more people will see it. And in this case, because the thread was supposedly nice to mybiz, he decided to 'bump' it (as a very sneaky form of promotion). That's why it was locked.
OH, so *that's* what it means! ok, i geddit. guess i'm safe then, since i have no biz to promote. Just another desperate seeker for The Perfect Host
Thanks very much for taking the time to  enlighten me :)

You mean like this? Lol... you know, with thousands of posts on various boards, I never actually thought of it? So much for having a devious nature.
